It was a sad day in Eternia Manor. Adora's guardian, Light Spinner had died due to an untimely death. It was short funeral not a lot of people really showed up and no one really cared for Light Spinner as Adora did. Rumors were that Light Spinner was a villainous, sadistic, and heartless woman who worked for Adora's parents as to when she just an infant. Until one night, Adora's parents died.

The main rumor was that 'Light Spinner' killed Adora's parents for their wealth and abused all the household especially, her personal slave, Catra.

People called her 'Shadow Weaver' the exact opposite of 'Light Spinner'.

The household servants actually used to be Adora's friends growing up but because they were all close to Adora, 'Shadow Weaver' made them all work for both her and Adora. The people of the household tried to tell Adora how cruel she was treating them and when Adora would confront her, Light Spinner would erase her memory of the servants told her about their encounters with her.

One by one, Shadow Weaver would get rid of each servant who would disobey her or who tried to turn Adora against her.

First, it was Perfuma, the gardener, who was fired for accidentally using her magic to grow plants in Shadow Weaver's tea and trying to tell Adora about her guardian burning her favorite flower and blaming it on Perfuma. Sea Hawk, the minstrel of the house, was fired for annoying Shadow Weaver with the same, as she called them, "self-absorbed lyrics." Then, it was Entrapta, the mechanic, for her inventions burning the kitchen once. Mermista, the handmaiden, the was fired for talking back to her and for using her magic to splash water in her face. Spinerella and Netossa, the seamstresses, were fired because Shadow Weaver disapproved of their relationship. Glimmer and Bow, the chefs and two of Adora's best friends, were just fired last week, because of taking Adora out to have fun.

Adora was all alone. Or so she thought.

The next day, Adora wandered around the manor that was now her's official. It felt more lonely with her guardian gone. She wiped tears from her eyes and she heard a noise from the attic. She grabbed and gripped the sword from a knight statue and she walked up to the stairs, her fear growing within each step. She opened the door to the dark attic and flip the switch to lit up the room.

"Hello?" Adora whispered, the sword in her hand shaking.

"Adora!" Someone whispered-yelled.

"Catra?" Adora ran up and hugged like she never hugged her before. "I thought you were gone too!"

"What do you mean, too? You didn't find a new best friend too, did you?" Catra teased.

"Light Spinner fired Glimmer and Bow a week ago, you didn't know?"

"I've been locked up here for like two months," Catra admitted.

"But, Light Spinner told you were just being indolent and didn't bother to show up," Adora spoke in disbelief.

"She lied to you, Adora."

"Why would she do that?"

"Adora, you need to get out of here."

"Why?"

"If she catches you letting me out, she'll kill me. Trust me, you have to go."

"She's not going to catch me."
