*HIGH SCHOOL AU*

It was the same thing every year. Since grade school, on Valentine's Day, Catra would always receive a love note with her favorite flower tied to it. It had been going on since second grade. Sometimes, she would look around the classroom to see who was looking for a reaction but she never found out who it was. Another thing that Catra noticed was that the notes became more romantic and the gesture would be grander than the next.
Like in the second grade, the class was to make a card for someone they cared about; a parent, a guardian, a friend, or a teacher. Catra decided to make one for her best friend, Adora. When she finished it, she was so thrilled. When Valentine's Day arrived, Catra received a card from Adora and a card the size of her desk and inside were stickers and a little flower that Catra grew fond of and inside of the card was written, "I'll stick with you forever." in dainty yet a tad messy handwriting.
Catra told Adora about it and was overjoyed by the fact that someone may have a secret admirer. Back then, love was mainly a platonic friendship. Everyone in elementary school was very much too young for a real relationship.
There was also eighth grade where the notes had a more detailed in the admirer's feelings.
"If cuddles were money, I would send you billions and billions of dollars. If hugs were seconds, I would send you hours of bliss each day. If kisses were water, I would give you an ocean every day. Forever, my heart belongs to you."
That same Valentine's Day, Catra told Adora all about it and Adora grew happier for Catra for enjoying the love she was receiving from this "secret admirer".
And now there was this year. The same card, same flower, and now, a simple heart-shaped balloon.
"A day without seeing you is a day wasted. A night without dreaming of you is a night gone. A life without you is too cruel a fate. And a moment without you knowing who I am is another moment I can't bear."
Does that mean her admirer wanted to reveal themselves? What if it someone she didn't like? That would certainly be awkward. Or what if it was someone who did it out of kindness for not getting that much valentines as everyone else? She didn't want a relationship out of pity.
"So what's the yearly love message this year?" Adora questioned, swiping the card our of Catra's hand and laying her head on her thigh.
"Y'know just a cheesy love note and a meetup."
"This person really must love you." Adora chuckles, punching Catra's arm lightly. "Just out of curiosity, who do you think it is?"
"I don't know. Hopefully someone nice."
"Maybe this person could be the one."
"They did put their time on the card and all the other past ones."
"You got to meet this person!"
"But where? I probably don't even know them."
"Well, look we'll meet up at my house and we'll see if we can find this person. We can find a matching writing or something."
"Adora, you amazing idiot. You're the greatest!"
"12 years of friendship and you're realizing this now?"

Adora arrived at her home and was a bit shocked to see Bow and Glimmer were inside before. Preferably, the door was locked and they couldn't have gotten in. Unless...
