Hope woke up in a strange prison. Bones scattered on the floor. Skeletons dangling from the ceiling. She could hear faint groans of the prison and immediately jumped to her feet. She readied the Sword of Protection. Apparently, the sword wasn't one of the things her captors were interested in.

"Hello?" Her voice echoed.

She tucked a strand of blonde-brown hair behind her ear and looked out of the cracks of her prison and saw that she was on an island in the middle of the sea. She heard stories about islands that sailors never dared to go near from Sea Hawk when she was only a child. This was Beast Island. Only thing wrong was there were no beasts.

"More like a deserted island than a Beast island." She laughed at her own joke.

Hope checked her surroundings. Once she saw there was nothing that might fall or cause an accident, she swiped the sword across the bone prison. Hope climbed down the small cliff that held her cage.

"Ok, one more step." Hope used her foot to search for a rock or ground to stand on but she felt nothing.

*SNAP*

"Who's there?" A shadow ran through a skeleton that looked like a monster that roamed the island but it was nothing but a pile of bones now. "Wait, I need help!"

"Show yourself!" Hope lifted the sword. "I got a giant sword here and I'm not afraid to use it! Well, I mean, I am a little afraid, I sort of cut my friend, Jordyn, the other day. He's fine though but he's-JUST SHOW YOURSELF!"

*SNAP*

Hope held her ground. The footsteps got closer and closer. Her heart thumping, Hope was frozen. Something came out of the bones.

"Oh my gosh." Hope inhaled. "YOU ARE ADORABLE!"

The thing behind the bones was a little monster that had sparkling, purple eyes with green fur all around it and cute antennas to compliment itself.

"Look at you with your big ol' eyes and your fur looks like my grandpa Lance when he vomited." The creature snuggled into Hope's chest.

"Are you lost, little guy?" The creature chirped. "Ok, chirp once for no, twice for yes." Three chirps.
Hope looked baffled.

"I don't think you know how to count." Something emerged from behind Hope and began walking towards. It had beady, red eyes with yellow fangs, and sharp talons that look like they could cut with nary a touch. but she was so interested in the tiny thing that she barely forgot her surroundings.

"You know, I'm a bit of a creature myself. Look at my ears and tail. You see my mom was a sort of cat person, literally! She had ears and everything and my mom, I have two, she was this sort of First Ones person or something." The tiny furball chirped again and pointed his leg behind her.

"Are we playing charades? Oh, I'm good at this!" The creature continued jumping up and down, trying to get Hope to turn around and run.

"Two words? Syllables? Sentences?" Nothing. The tiny animal made an angry face and fangs with his tiny fingers and a scared expression at the end.

"Umm...oh! It's Aunt Mermista with her creepy facial mask!" The creature shook his head. "Aunt Mermsita shouting at Sea Hawk with her creepy mask!" No. "Aunt Mermista without her mask!"
