Emily's POV

When Ali and I start to walk back home, the sun is starting to set. She points up at the beautiful sky and I get an idea in my head. Now it's my turn to show her something.

"Come on," I say while taking her hand and bringing her to a certain tree overlooking the whole stream, waterfall and everything. I put her hand on the first handhold and put my knee out for her to get a boost. She looks at me like I'm crazy and I give her a reassuring nod, letting her know it's ok to start climbing up. She shakes her head and starts up the tree. When she is about three or four feet above me, I start my own ascent and try to stay right under her incase she falls. After about 25 feet up, Ali looks down at me.

"How far do you want me to go up Em?" she calls down to me, is that a slight shake I detect in her voice?

"Keep going until you reach that thick branch at the top," I tell her.

"That's like another 50 feet up!" Ali exclaims and her face twists into one of concern.

"Alison? Are you afraid of heights?" I ask her, a little amused to see Ali afraid of anything.

"No!" she says defensively. I give her the don't lie to me look and she gives in.

"Ok maybe a little, but aren't you? We could die from this height!" she cries out and I nudge her foot to try and get her to start going up again. She complies and we start moving again.

"We could've died from jumping off the cliff and you did that just fine," I remind her.

"Yeah but I couldn't see the bottom!" she exclaims and I laugh at her logic.

"Shouldn't that mean that that was a farther fall?" I ask her, catching her in her own reason.

"No! There was mist from the waterfall, this is definitely higher," she says, I don't think she realizes that she is almost at the top.

"Ok Alison," I say with a laugh and a shake of my head. Crazy girl.

I climb a little faster to get my head inline with her shoulder so I can help her onto the branch. She looks at me confused but then sees how far we are from the ground. She gasps and tries to climb on the branch a little to fast and loses her footing. She lets out a small cry and I instantly wrap an arm around her waist and crush her body to mine. She wraps her arms around my neck and buries her head into my shoulder and closes her eyes really tight, her whole body is shaking from her near death experience.
