We had been at the office for a while now, Karen had just shown up. She walked past me and over to the two of them.
"What is she doing?" She asked.
"Meditating I think. She has been sitting like that for almost an hour." Foggy answered her.
"I didn't know she knew how to meditate," Matt told the two of them before they could ask.
"She could help; one more set of eyes would make this so much faster," Karen told the two of them.
I tried to toon out the sound of there voices because, in reality, I was working. I was projecting myself all over town trying to find Hoffman. I was running out of places to look when Karen's voice pulled me out of my head.
"53rd and 10th." She told us.
Matt walked over to me and pulled me up.
"What's going on?" I asked him.
"We need to go." He said as he leads me out of the building.
We arrived at an abandoned hotel just on the outskirts of the city just as a group of cops entered the building and opened fire. Matt and I quickly made our way inside, making sure to stay unseen until we knew exactly what we were walking into.
"Hey, Carl. Been wondering where you got to." One of the cops said to Hoffman as he pointed his gun at him.
From the shadows where I stood, I used my whip to hit the gun out of his hand. It fired right as I did and barely missed Hoffman who had cowered with his eyes closed. Matt and I quickly and efficiently took care of the remaining cops all while Hoffman stayed seated in his chair. His body seemed to be frozen in fear. Once all the threats had been taken care of, Matt pulled up a chair and sat down directly in front of Hoffman while I stood behind him. I was resting my hands on his shoulders, holding him in place.
"You have an opportunity here, Detective. By turning evidence on Fisk, you can set things right. If that's what you want." Matt told him.
"If not, you can sit here playing with yourself until Fisk sends more men to kill you," I whispered in his ear.
I could feel him shiver against my words as my closeness made him uncomfortable.
"Decide," Matt demanded of him.
"It won't make a difference. He owns the cops. I'll be dead before I can testify." Hoffman told the two of us.
"Not all the cops. Turn yourself into Brett Mahoney." Matt told him.
"You can trust him," I added on even though I knew he had it out for me he was the only honest cop I know.
"And he knows a couple of lawyers that cant be bought. They can help you." Matt told him, and I could not help but chuckle realizing how out of the loop Brett was.
"Yeah. Thanks for the tip." He said as he tried to stand up and walk away, but Matt grabbed him and flipped him onto the table.
He tried to get away, but I grabbed his shoulder and pushed him back down into his chair. Matt punched him, and he falls out of the chair I just placed him in.
"We'll be following you to make sure you get to the prescient alive. Try to run, try to do anything other than what I just told you, you'll wish you were never saved from that bullet." Matt told him then the two of us quickly left the building.
We stayed on the nearby rooftops. We watched him leave and followed him to the station. I was surprised to see that he did as we commanded. I guess The Devil of Hell's Kitchen and His Reaper to strike the fear of God into the bad guys. If I was honest with myself, I liked that feeling.
