Sorin and Kyoshi walked through the marketplace that day, Sorin convinced her that she was the Avatar and that she would visit cities during the course of her life. He was teaching her to get used to cities and try to embrace the feeling of being around many people, she reluctantly decided to come along to make him happy.

"I forgot to ask you, do you like music?". Sorin asked her.

"I wouldn't know. I never heard any good ones". She said.

"Well, you're in luck. I'm really good at playing the flute, you'll hear it once I buy it". He said.

That's when Kyoshi stopped walking and stared at him, Sorin noticed and turned to see Kyoshi glaring at him.

"What?'. He asked.

"You brought me all the way here to buy a flute?!". She exclaimed.

Sorin gave a small laugh,"Oh, Kyoshi. Be a little adventurous, yes, we did come all this way to buy my flute. But look, Kyoshi. You're in the middle of a crowd in a market. See, you are getting used to life in the city".

Kyoshi rubbed her arm,"I guess".

"Come on, gorgeous. Let's go get that flute". He said, walking ahead of her.

"Gorgeous?". Kyoshi asked with a raised eyebrow.

"What? You are beautiful". Sorin said, smiling.

Kyoshi blushed slightly.

They continued walking until they came to a stand where a man was selling wooden crafts, his face brightened when he saw Kyoshi and Sorin approaching his stand.

"Hi there. May I interest you in a wooden sculpture of a badgermole?". He asked.

"No, thank you. I'm here for an instrument". Sorin said.

The man looked up,"What kind?".

"I was looking for a flute, that is if you have any left?". Sorin said.

"You're in luck, my friend. I have just the kind for you". The man said, presenting Sorin with one.

It was light brown and had colours of all four nations around it.

"Oh, I think that's perfect". Sorin said, taking the flute from him.

"Okay, we got your flute. Can we go now?". Kyoshi said.

Sorin nodded. But before they could continue, they heard commotion coming from their right. Kyoshi looked up and saw a man being held by the guards, he was shouting in fear when he saw Kyoshi.

"Hey, what's going on?". Sorin asked.

Kyoshi felt her entire body become hot and she felt her blood boil from rage, because the man shouting in fear was the man who stabbed her master on that fateful night.

"Please, let me go! She's coming towards me, the Avatar's coming toward me". The man yelled.

Sorin then saw Kyoshi take off toward the guards holding the man, she used earthbending to separate the man from the guards and used one hand to lift the man from the ground.

"You dare show your face after what you did!". Kyoshi seethed in rage.

"Please, Avatar. I was just following orders". The man cried.

"Ma'am step away from the criminal". One of the guards said.

"Stay out of this". Kyoshi warned.

"Avatar, please have mercy". The man begged.

"Mercy?! After what you did to my father!". She yelled in rage.

"Ma'am, we're warning you". Another guard said.

"I said stay out of this!". Kyoshi yelled as her eyes flashed white momentarily, the guards backed off in fear and stood helpless.

"I didn't mean to hurt your father, please". The man begged.

"I will kill you for your crime". Kyoshi said, getting into a earthbending stance.

"Kyoshi, stop!". Sorin said, appearing in front of the man.

"Get out of the way, Sorin!". Kyoshi yelled.

"You don't wanna do this, Kyoshi. Not in front of all these people". Sorin said, slowly stepping toward her.

"I don't care what people think". She said, her rage diminishing at seeing Sorin slowly come toward her.

"It's not who you are. Don't do this, not now". He whispered the last part, before holding her shoulders.

Kyoshi's angry face immediately softened up and she slowly stepped out of her stance.

Then she remembered what Yangchen told her.

"There is no problem in killing an enemy when it is necessary but do not lose yourself in the process, like I did".

"Take this man away". Sorin said to the guards. The guards quickly took the man and left. Sorin turned to see Kyoshi running away.

"Kyoshi!". He yelled, running after her. Then he took off running after her.

                .............................

Sorin came to a stop in the middle of the path and looked around, he almost gave up until he heard a sob coming from his right. He went into the direction of the sobbing sound, he found Kyoshi sitting behind a wall and sobbing.

"There you are". He said, sliding down the wall.

"Go away". She said.

"No, not when a friend is in need". He said, taking a seat next to her.

She slowly looked at him,"You consider me your friend?".

"Yes. Why wouldn't I?". He smiled.

"Do you anything about Avatar Kuruk?". She asked next.

Sorin looked at her and thought for a moment,"Well, I heard a few things of how he was the worst Avatar ever. But I do know of what happened to his wife, who was from the Southern Water Tribe".

Kyoshi wiped tears away,"It was a terrible tragedy".

"Yeah. After losing his wife, he became shattered and heart broken. It shows you how human the Avatar can be also". He said.

"I feel he should have done better". Kyoshi said.

"He could have prevented that incident". Sorin said,"If he had been more attentive and more active, he could have saved her".

Kyoshi looked at Sorin with new eyes. He looked as if he was talking from personal experience. He slowly got to his feet and then looked down at her.

"Kuruk's loss should be a life lesson for you, Kyoshi". Sorin said.

"What lesson should that be?". She asked.

"The lesson is that you must actively shape your own destiny and the destiny of the world". He said before walking away,"I'll see you back at the inn".

Kyoshi stared at Sorin's leaving form in wonder. She couldn't believe that his words held so much wisdom, she stared at him with new eyes. Maybe there was more to him than what she already knew about him.

She slowly got to her feet and decided to go back to the inn. She needed to speak with Kuruk.
