Chapter 14

Twelve months passed and Kyoshi's training was nearing completion, she would have mastered firebending a while back. But she also had duties with the Firelord and was needed at all times, so she was constantly distracted from her training. She and Adachi had grown rather close over the few months that passed, she even got close with his sister. She and Sorin were walking through the streets that day, Kyoshi didn't like it when she was dragged along by him. She was more used to leading.

"Where are we going, Sorin? This area looks unfamiliar". She said, as the scenery took on a more elegant and luxurious background.

"We're going to see an old master of mine". He smiled.

She smiled a little. She was glad to have him back to his old self, he was in a really bad mood since coming back home.

"Who?". She asked.

"Hei Ran. She was the woman that taught me firebending along with Master Yamoto". He said.

"Oh, I see. Do you think she will be home, I mean she is a noble after all". Kyoshi said.

"That's why we're going to her academy. It's where she spends the most time". He said.

They came to a red wall with a golden gate in the center, the academy stood behind the wall and it was designed in a beautiful design. Kyoshi saw how stylish the Fire Nation really were, she liked the red and gold contrasting each other. Sorin opened the gate and they both walked in, they looked around and saw how big the courtyard was. There was a large tree in the center with training gear to the center, Sorin saw how quiet it was and he decided to call her.

"Master Hei Ran? Are you here?". He said,"It's me, Sorin. Are you there?".

Then Kyoshi noticed a figure drop down from the tree toward Sorin, but he evaded the figure at the last second. The figure turned out to be a woman in her early forties, who was beautiful. She had her noble robes that she straightened after she landed, she glared at Sorin before punching a flame forward.

Sorin evaded and attacked with his flurries of firebending, like a master that she was, she blocked all the attacks and sent a vertical slice of flames to which Sorin narrowly dodged. He ninja rolled and sent a blast of fire at her, she jumped over the attack and stomped the ground. A circle of fire spread out toward Sorin, who jumped back and then dissipated them.

The woman smiled,"You've improved".

"Thank you, Master Hei Ran". He said, bowing to her.

She returned it as well.

"It is so good to see you again". He said, hugging her.

"I missed you". She said, hugging him back as well.

They let each other go and then Hei Ran looked toward Kyoshi, who stood there with nothing to do but watch.

"You must be the Avatar. Kyoshi, right?". Hei Ran said.

Kyoshi nodded,"Yes. But how did you know?".

"Well, stories of you pass by my academy all the time. Well, that and your unusual tall height". Hei Ran said.

"Oh". Kyoshi said. She was a little sensitive when it came to people talking about her height.

"Sorry, I didn't mean anything bad". Hei Ran said.

Kyoshi smiled,"It's okay".

Then she turned back to her former student,"So, what do you want at my academy?".

"Well, just thought I'd pay you a visit". He responded.

"How sweet of you". Hei Ran smiled,"My daughter wanted to see you too".
