CHAPTER 73

My forehead automatically creased when I saw my sister marching towards me. Ang hawak-hawak kong black queen ay kaagad kong nabitiwan nang bigla niyang hinampas ang aking desk. The chess pieces scattered. Some even fell to the floor. I lazily leaned on the backrest—ignoring her outburst.

Ano na namang ipinaglalaban niya?

"What did you do to Sapphire, Kuya? Ang dami niyang pasa dahil sayo! Hindi na kita maintindihan! Kung hindi mo na siya kayang mahalin, utang na loob huwag mo na siyang sasaktan!"

I swear her screams could wake up a whole village in the middle of the night. Did Dad implant a fucking megaphone in my sister's throat without me knowing?

"It's part of the initiation," I answered nonchalantly.

"Initiation, my ass!"

My eyes turned into slit.

"Let me remind you, I'm your brother. Tone down your voice."

She held the edge of the chessboard tighly with gritted teeth. I just raised my eyebrow arrogantly while waiting for her new set of screams, but it didn't come, instead I saw tears falling from her eyes.

"I... know you're angry but please, Kuya, stop hurting Sapphire. Kuya Dale will hate you for hurting her." She wiped her tears violently.

I heaved a sigh. I rested my elbow above the desk while my palm automatically landed in my forehead. Bigla akong nakaramdam ng iritasyon nang unti-unti na naman akong nadadala ng mga luha ng kapatid ko. Looking at her, my mind wandered back to Sapphire's face the night of the initiation. She fucking remembered Dale, but how about me? She couldn't even pronounce my name even with the tiniest sign of recognition!

I was a liar if I would say I was not hurt. It might sound like a gay but the pain was fucking unbearable. She uttered the name of Dale while looking at my face—she uttered it with fucking longing while I was holding her.

"I'm not doing this for personal reason. I'm a King and it's my sole duty to discipline the students."

"We both knew you're lying. Paano mo nagagawang saktan ang babaeng handa kang talikuran ang lahat noon makasama lang siya? Alam kong galit ka, Kuya. Kasi sino ba naman ang matutuwa kung iyong babaeng nang-iwan sa'yo noon ay babalik na hindi ka man lang naalala—"

"Honey, I'm not really in the mood to argue with you—"

"Pero natanong mo na ba kung bakit siya nagkaganon in the first place?"

That question made me froze in my seat. Aaminin kong masyado akong nagpadala sa aking galit. My anger overshadowed my logic. I was too focused in planting seeds of hatred to Sapphire, instead of digging about what happened to her when we were apart. Seeing my sister crying while blaming me made me question my actions. Bakit hindi ko man lang inimbestigahan kung ano nga ba ang nangyari kay Sapphire?

I knew she wasn't pretending. Kasi kung nagpapanggap lang siyang hindi ako naaalala ay mahuhuli ko pa rin ito. Afterall, I knew her greatest fear.

The silence lingered around while I was still fucking contemplating what I would do next. The eagerness on my sister's face didn't falter even a bit. Mukhang hindi siya aalis dito ng hindi makukuha ang kaniyang gusto. Now, I had completely realized why they became best friends of Sapphire. They were both brats.

Then, something came up in my mind.

"Fine, I will not hurt Sapphire. I will also investigate why she lost her memories but in one condition," I tried to bargain.

"What condition?" she asked immediately.

I mentally smirked.

"Leave Chaos University. As simple as that," I replied.
