Comforting him

I woke when I heard my huband shout and shoot up in the bed. I looked at him before I sat up.

I was careful wheen I softly touched his back. I truned and grabebd me by my throat and pinned me down. I was struggling to breath when I looked up at him.

"Oh my god baby" he said as he let me go sso I could breath again.

I ssaid nothing just wrapped my arms around him and held him to me.

"It's ok baby, it'ss not your fault. I knew what was going on and I touched you knowing better" I denfed his actions.

He said nothign just held me as I held him.

I laid there with him on top of me and I softly and effortleessly rubbed his back. His breathing was starting to go back to normal from its hecktic pace.

I whispered meaningful words to him and told him just how much he means to me. Told him why I loved him and why no matter what he does to me when he has these nightmares and such that I will never hate himcasue I understand waht is going on.

I know I don't have nor will I ever see or experince the things he has but I understand from previous exprience of going through this with him. and When we got together andd he was already in the arm I knew what I was signing up for and I don't regret one dqay or minute of saying yes when he asked me out that day.

We laid there holding each other talking about our wedding and honeymoon. We talked about all of our dates and our late nights we had like this.

I leaned agaisnt the counter watching him as he was dealing with him self quietly and in his head.

"When will they let Aika come home to you,she was under your care over seas so it's only right the two of you be togther now that both of you are discharged" I said

He looked up at me.

"They said after she is exsamined and testss fun to see if she is in good shape or has any diseases the nthey will call me to come pick her up" he replied then wnt back to not saying anything.

I nodded my head and turned around and started doing the dishes.

Once I was done I headed off into the living room and sat being joined by Sy who picked me up and sat down placing me in his lap as he wraps his arms around me.

"Please don't leave me alone, I can't be alone" he begged.

"I would never leave you alone, I was just giving you space sicne you was busy dealing with yourself" I stated.

He burried his face in my neck and I held him close and rocked him in my arms.even though I was on his lap and in his arms it still worked.

It was a few weeks before they allowed Aika to come home to Sy.

When they called I quickly anwsered it and they told me that Aika is ready to come home to Sy.

I thanked them after I jotted the adress down.

I hung up the phone and starrted to get ready. Before I walked over and ever so carefully woke Sy up.

"Sy baby" I whispered

He groaned and reached out to touch where I was laying before. When he didn't feel me he woke up and looked around before he seen me sitting next to him.

"What are you doing outta bed?" he asked

"I have a surprise for you, but I need you to get dressed so we can go to the surprise" I tell him then stand up and move out of his way.

He doens't question me as he gets dressed.

Once he is dressed we leave and hald way to the place I ask him to close his eyes and he looks at me.

"I swear it's ok baby" I tell him

He reuctanly doess as he is asked.

"Now I am gonan step out of the car. I want you to keep your eyes clsoed till I say differ ok."

"Ok."

I park the car and turn it off before stepping out I walked in and did what I needed to to pick upAAika before i walked out with her on a leash and opened the passenger door and she jumped on his lap.

"Ok Sy" I said

He opens his eyes and sees her.

"Aika" he said all excited and hugs her while she is just as excited and happy as he is.

He ruffles her fur and scratches behind her ears. I smile as I watch the two war pals reacquaint.

We take her home and the two of them share a bond that I don't compare with.

I let them do their thing together while I watch as she helps him so much.

We had gotten Aika certified as Sy's service dog for his PTSD. And she does so good with him. She is in the room and on the bed when he wakes with his nightmares and she comforts him in ways I can't.

I take care and provide for the three of us while Sy slowly recoves and works with Aika on getting his PTSD under control. Which is possible but make no mistake what he went through will never be erased from his mind.
