Coronavirus

Warning: I'm talking about my worry about how the US is unprepared for the coronavirus, so it could be upsetting, so if you're not in the mental space to read this, don't read it :)

This isn't ace related, but the US's approach is fucking ridiculous, and it would be laughable except this will cause people to die that wouldn't have. Which means I'm upset !! And what better thing to do than tell y'all about it !! Also I feel like people should know about the grand dumbassery of America right now.

First of all, we're putting Mr. Thoughts And Prayers in charge of the whole thing so like? Medicine? Cures? Not dying? I think not.

But the really big reason I'm writing this is because I learned that we've managed to make this even worse !!

Because in the fantastic progressive land of dreams advancement of technology new innovations in the interests of the people Land of Freedom and Wellbeing, THEY ARE CHARGING THREE FUCKING THOUSAND DOLLARS PER TEST FOR CORONAVIRUS.

44 million people don't even have health insurance to cover a portion of the costs.

Is the government going to pay for this? No. People will blame the government for bad things, so it's really not in their interests at the moment to pay for the full extent of Coronavirus in America to be known (It actually is but this administration's foresight is 20/1000).

But honestly. First we have insulin and epipens and watch people die or starve or both because the profit of one person ALWAYS comes above basic humanity. And now people will continue to die because of the greed of the rich.

Also guess how many masks we have stockpiled !! 30 million !!

There are over 300 million people. There is roughly one million doctors. We already don't have enough doctors. But now we have enough for each doctor to have less than 30 masks. That won't last them a month. So we're greatly risking the safety of the limited doctors we have.

Also! The general consensus between like a dozen websites that are all probably not the best sources but they all got similar results so I think they're right is that more than half of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.

More than half of Americans cannot AFFORD to take time off of work.

So as we can see, Americans can't afford to be tested, they can't afford to isolate themselves, and we don't have enough doctors to treat all the sick people we don't even know are sick, AND the government doesn't have much of an incentive to do anything about this.

The only good thing that can come out of this is that people realize that this is absurd and change how we act in the future.
