An uncertain amount of time later...
I woke up in a bed that wasn't mine and in a room that was completely different. I looked around the huge room that had everything wonderfully furnished. The bed had rich cotton and silk sheets, the walls were brick-patterned, and the windows were stained glass in red, orange, and yellow in geometric shapes. Getting out of bed, I saw that I was dressed in school uniform pajamas, and then I realized where I was.
Why am I at a mage's academy?
I looked around my room and saw that I wasn't the only one here. There was another bed across from mine and on it was Julia sleeping soundly.
What happened while I was out cold?
Just then, I heard the doors open and saw two people, a young lady and an older woman, come in. I got closer to Julia's bedside and got prepared for anything, even with my wound throbbing from moving quickly. The two got closer, and the woman looked towards us and jumped a little. I guess she was not expecting me to be up and be at my sister's bedside. "Oh my, the boy is up!" The older woman moved her hand over her mouth in shock.
"Even after the operation we gave him, he's able to stand up and move around. No normal man should be able to handle the pain." The young lady said with her arms crossed.
"Wait, what operation?" I asked, but then I dropped to my knees the moment I felt an extreme amount of pain. Then I heard rustling behind me and a small, concerned voice followed.
"Hm, what's going on?" I heard Julia asked behind me.
"It appears that your brother is awake now madam." The older woman informed Julia.
"Really? Where is he?!" Julia got all excited and jumped out of bed.
"He's right here, and it looks like he was checking on his little sister, but then saw two complete strangers and went on the defensive." The young lady pointed at me, and she came around to see me kneeling.
"Brother!" Julia rammed into me and gave me a tight hug. I ignored the pain of her ramming me and hugged her back, but all of a sudden, I felt her leg kick me in the gut hard. Getting the wind knocked out of me, I dropped to the floor, gasping for air.
When the heck did Julia get this kind of strength?
"That hurt more than anything I've ever felt, Jules." I was able to manage out.
"That's for nearly killing Simon! As much as I hated him you publicly tortured him and almost killed him!"
"Lady Julia, I would ask that you refrain from hitting your brother please. His wound is still healing." The young lady said, and she turned her back and stepped away.
"I didn't hurt him that badly. I barely touched him." She pouted.
I was able to get air back in and gasped for it. "Then I wonder what effort is to you, because for someone who is still getting used to their legs, you kick hard," I told Julia.
"Wait when did she start walking?" The older woman asked us.
"It just suddenly happened one morning, and I couldn't believe it." Julia answered.
"She was able to walk after the night I got attacked, from what Father Alric told me back at the hospital," I added in, and the two began to think amongst each other. The way they looked back at us constantly creeped me out. I looked over at Julia, and I could tell something was going through her head as well. "Julia, where are we?"
"We're in Lucks Heart." She replied, and my heart dropped to the floor.
Lucks Heart is the City of Mages! Why would we be here of all places? What happened while I was out?
