A day's journey away from Lucks Heart is the noble city of Marque. Here, the nobility of Seraphim live and commune with one another in peace. However, there are times when a civil dispute between two nobles arises. Those disputes are usually for dumb, minor reasons, such as a hand in marriage, jealousy, or boredom. When this happens, the conflict will sometimes become a war between one another, and they will each hire mercenaries to fight for them. This war will go on until one house become victorious. Other houses are not to interfere or help the nobles in dispute.
Right now, there's a fight between a noble named Delvin, and another noble named Franco Sario. This quarrel is becoming the bloodiest feud that's ever happened in Marque. Fighting for Franco is the mercenary company, Band of the Fang, led by their leader Kaisa. She's a merciless warrior and a tactful leader always making sure that every single one of her men comes back from every battle alive. But this time, there was something that not even her closest friends knew between her and Franco.
Kaisa was in her room reading out the reports of today's attacks and noticed that Delvin's men were moving in unusual patterns and she would need to find out why. She has been in these kinds of wars between nobles before and has always won them. The nobles still pay handsomely in the end for winning their stupid disputes. When she heard what Franco and Delvin were fighting over, she nearly killed Franco out of rage. But when she heard the reward that she and her company would receive, it was an offer she couldn't refuse. Still, it disgusts her that she was fighting for him and what he was fighting for. Just thinking about it got her angry. She threw the paper off her desk and tossed one of her chairs out the window. Just then, the door opened, and out of instinct, she grabbed one of her knives from her holster and threw it at whoever was at the door.
"You missed." A man said in a snarky tone.
"It was a warning shot," Kaisa growled and looked back down at her desk. "What do you want?"
"Now, is that any way to talk to the love of your life?" The man remarked as he walked over, gliding his finger along Kaisa's back and wrapping one arm around her.
Kaisa replied by turning around and putting a knife at the man's neck. "Listen here you snobby noble. I loved you once, but the feelings are gone after I realized what kind of man you really are. Once I'm done fighting this little dispute for you, I'll be as far away from you as possible." She pushed Franco away and started walking over to her bed, but Franco grabbed her by her waist and pulled her close.
"So many memories, so many beautiful nights together. How about one more?" Franco teased as he licked the back of her neck.
Kaisa lost it. She stabbed him through the heart and kicked him to the wall, knocking him unconscious. She walked over to her weapons and found her broadsword perfectly sharpened and waited. It didn't take long for Franco to gain consciousness again and pull the blade out of his chest.
"You were off by an inch darling." He smirked just as she turned back around.
"And it took longer for you to come back. Looks like we're both a little off today." She retorted.
"Let's see then!" Franco sprinted forward and took a swing at Kaisa, but by the time he got to her, she was already behind him with her sword pointing down at the floor.
"I'm still quicker." Kaisa swung her sword up, and suddenly, Franco burst out bleeding with hundreds of slashes all over his body and toppled to his knees.
"My, my, I know how to pick my women." He chuckled to himself.
"I am not yours!" She thrust her sword into his chest and picked him up with it and threw him to the side. Kaisa shuffled back to her desk and sat down. She couldn't believe she was working for this man, but the only thing that was making her stay was the reward.
After a while, Franco got back up with the sword still in his chest. "Let me ask you something Kaisa. I know there's something else that made you fight on my behalf. What is it?"
"I made a promise to somebody that I would protect you, and as much as I hate you, Franco, and would love nothing more than to kill you right now, I need to keep that promise for their sakes. Now, if you're done harassing me, I need to plan out tomorrow's fight." She began to look at her plans and could hear Franco walk over. He placed her bloodied sword on the table.
"Have a good night, my love." He whispered in her ear and left the room.
Kaisa's blood fumed, but she knew that this dispute was going to be over soon. Once it was, she could disband her company and go on her journey to find the person she held her promise to. It's been a while since she's last seen them. She now believed that it was time to find them.
Back in Lucks Heart...
A couple of days have passed since Master Feng made me his student. So far, he's taught me the basics of the Renewal Acupuncture fighting style. It consists of standard kicks and punches as a defensive tactic. It's all about hitting the vital points on the human body, or that's what Master has told me. Today he was gonna show me some of those points.
Master Feng took me to the back of his house, which was a decent sized space filled with training dummies. "Are those the dummies I'm going to be practicing on?" I pointed to them.
"No," Master Feng simply replied. He stomped on the ground, sending a block of dirt up, and out of that block stepped out a person made of dirt. "This will be your practice dummy."
"Wait, you're a mage?" I asked a little surprised.
"I was a Battlemage in my younger days, boy. I used my Creation Magic to fight in a lot of wars, some of which were before you were even born. I was a very well-known Battlemage back then, but I'm all but forgotten now, which I'm okay with." Master Feng stopped for a second, looking out in the distance as he was remembering his past, but then cleared his throat, focusing his attention back on me. "Anyways, back to your training. As I said before, every human body has vital points called 'pressure points.' Hitting one can be easy. Just about anyone can hit a single pressure point, but what Renewal Acupuncture does is not only hit one pressure point."
In a blink of an eye, I was barely able to see his right arm jab the dirt dummy three times. One hit to the back, another to the left side of its neck, and the final one to its right pecs. The dummy then fell to the ground as if it had a heart attack. I was amazed at the speed the old man went. He didn't show this to me when we first fought, so was he holding back for my sake? "We can hit multiple points and get varying results depending on the points we hit."
"So, what did you do to the dummy?"
"I paralyzed it. Something you should be familiar with." He told me, and I remembered very well. After he paralyzed my arms, they came back after ten minutes. Even now, I can still feel a little numbness on my left arm, and the fact that he was able to paralyze my rock arm shows me the kind of skill I want to learn from him.
"Yes, I remember quite well." I held on my left arm, feeling a little tingling sensation. Master Feng just giggled when I did that.
"Paralyzing your opponent is one of the most basic attacks to perform, and you seem like a boy who can learn his opponent's movements easily. So, I want you to try to paralyze this dummy. You won't learn anything else until you do." Master Feng moved his arm smoothly, and the dummy rose up again. "Begin."
