Calem took us to his office where the person that wanted to meet us was, and it was the man I saw Cher with back in Rocksteady. He was still in his military uniform from back then, and he tried as best he could, but I could tell something has drained him.
"Colonel Roy, I found the two you were looking for," Calem said as he walked out of the room and closed the door behind him. There was an unsettling silence between the three of us.
Why would Colonel Roy want us? Is he here for the bounty that's on us or for revenge because we were children of Kaisa the Merciless?
The colonel got up from his chair and faced us. "So, you're Kaisa's children. What are you doing in a place like this?" His face was somber.
"We were told to come here, and it ended being a trap. I'll ask you the same thing, Colonel Roy, why are you here?" I asked back.
"I'm here to save you two. When I was told that you were spotted coming in, I needed to make sure my old friend's kids came out alive," he said with sincerity, and it shook me a little.
"You knew our mom, Colonel?" Julia asked, and he shook his head.
"Aye, we both were recruits when she joined the king's army but left when she didn't feel like she belonged. Once my companions come back, we'll leave together, and you can be on your way."
"Wait, does that mean Cherry is here?" I couldn't hold my excitement, but it quickly went away when Colonel Roy looked slightly away from me.
"She is, but Cher is not the same person you might've known. She's...changed since you last saw her." He continued to speak somberly, and I began to worry at what he meant by "changed."
But then that became the least of my worries when I suddenly got the raging headache again, and this time it was worse than before. It felt like someone was nailing twenty spikes into my head at once, and I fell to my knees, screaming in pain.
Where is this headache coming from?!
"James, what's wrong?!" Julia kneeled down to try and comfort me, but nothing was gonna stop this headache. It felt like something is wanting to come out, and it couldn't. Just then, we got a knock on the door, and the headache got even worse. I've never been in so much pain; my vision was getting blurry, and my body was trembling.
"Colonel Roy, we've returned and couldn't find the Kidd siblings." The sound of Cherry's voice spoke from behind the door.
"They're in here with me. Hurry now; there's something wrong with James!" Colonel Roy shouted out, and just before the doorknob turned, something crashed through the window and bounced up in front of me. It looked like it was a grenade made of glass filled with gas. I heard it stop bouncing behind me, and it instantly dispersed the gas. It only made things worse, along with my headache.
The gas clouded my vision, but I could see someone coming in through the window, and they stopped right of me. It was a towering figure that had the shape of a guy, his head covered by a hood and face shielded by a gas mask. Suddenly, he threw a gas mask on Julia and me and picked us up. "Sorry, Colonel, but these two have a destiny they need to fulfill," the guy said and jumped out the window with us in hand. I thought we were gonna crash to the ground, but we stopped in midair, and I couldn't see why until we started moving. Underneath the person's feet were small platforms made of glass that were coming from his pockets.
"You're..."
"A Constructor." We both exclaimed.
"What makes you say that?" The guy laughed out loud.
