As we approached Grandpa Axel's house, my expectations of it were off as it was a pretty standard and small house. Farther behind, it was a little cottage that rested on top of a hill with a tree beside it. I immediately guessed that's where mother must've been, but no one came out as the truck came closer. Grandpa parked his truck, and we hopped out, and he beckoned us to follow him inside.
"Ralph, I'm back." Grandpa hollered out, and out of nowhere, a young boy, around Bianca's age, came running over to greet him.
"Welcome back, sir! How did it go at Northreach?" Ralph asked.
"It went well, my boy, but I found something that I wasn't expecting. Ralph, this James and Julia, my grandchildren." Grandpa stepped aside to show the boy, and his jaws dropped to the floor literally.
"They're the Kidd siblings from Lucks Heart?! Oh my gosh, I've heard so much about you guys!!" He ran up to us and shook our hands.
"You've also heard about us?" I asked him.
"Of course, we always get word of what happens in the Lucks Heart Magus Exam, and to hear what you two did made me really want to see your magic firsthand!" Grandpa answered for him. "But where are my manners, kids this is Ralph Davis. I found this boy trying to steal some of my crops to feed himself, and now he lives with me and helps me tend to the fields."
"A pleasure to meet all of you!"
"Hi, Ralph. I'm Bianca." Bianca walked over to him and reached her hand out. I swear by the look that Ralph made, he must've seen a princess for the first time, because he was speechless when he saw her.
Seriously what is up with you people making everyone fall in love with you at first glance??
Shut up Eighty-Four. I'm enjoying this. Julia answered for me as she looked on as well.
"H-h-hi Bianca." Ralph reached and shook Bianca's hand. His face turned almost as red as Uriela's the moment their hands touched, and suddenly his body went limp. Ralph's head leaned back, and it dropped to the floor, but his body was still standing straight up.
"Uh, Grandpa, is Ralph alright?" Julia pointed at Ralph, and Grandpa busted out laughing.
"Oh, that? I forgot to mention that Ralph is a mage himself, though not a destructive or creation mage like you guys are."
"So, what kind of mage is he?" Bianca asked.
"I'm an Enchantment, Mage!" Ralph reeled his head back up, making a slapping sound when it got back into place.
"Oh, I remember being told about Enchantment Mages. They become whatever they touch," I said. "But there are those that can't switch, are you one of them, Ralph?"
"Yeah, but I'm fine with what I choose."
"Which is what?"
He grabbed his cheek and stretched them out way past the limit that a normal human could. "I'm made of rubber now, and it actually helps a lot around the farm."
"It sure does. Why don't you show Bianca around the farm while me and my grandkids have a chat?"
"No problem, sir! Come on, let me show you around!" Ralph grabbed Bianca's arm and led her outside.
"Ah, that boy, he's a handful, but it's nice to have someone here helping me. Now come on, you two have a seat in the living room. I'll bring something for you to drink." Grandpa headed over to the kitchen while we went into the living room. The room was very spacious but had plenty of furniture and other things to fill it. Especially on one of the walls, it was covered with pictures of what I could assume was the Kidd family. Almost all of them looked like they were taken on a battlefield with each Kidd posing with their weapons in hand. I scanned through all of them until I spotted someone familiar.
