During the train ride, we got to see the lush forests of Seraphim that were magnificent to behold; the valleys and mountain ranges we passed were beautiful. But I had to say that my favorite part about the train ride was Mother telling us all about her and the Kidd Clan. It was interesting to hear about all of our relatives and how they lived their lives. What made me even more proud to call myself a Kidd was how my family passed on, all dying an honorable death on the battlefield. Mom told us that the only Kidd's living at the moment was her, her younger brother, and her father; my uncle and grandfather were currently off doing their own things.
"So why was everyone a fighter in the family?" Julia asked.
"It runs in our blood. The Kidd's live to be in the heat of battle. There is nothing more exhilarating than fighting many opponents at once. How did the fights in the exam feel like to you two?"
"I had a sense of excitement when fighting and pride when showing everyone how much I had grown with my magic." I looked down at my rock arm and smiled.
"Yeah, I got a little excited when I was fighting too. Just thinking about it is making my heart beat faster." Julia held her hand close to her chest.
"See? That's the Kidd blood running through you! However, because of our strong will to fight, we tend to make enemies easily."
"Oh, trust me, Mother, we know." Julia glared at me feeling her cold gaze go up my spine, hinting at my many scenes from the past. But that just made mom laugh.
"Well, at least only one of you makes enemies; you don't know how many your mother has. It's unbelievable." Sharon tapped Mom's arm, making her clear her throat.
"They don't need to know that, Sharon. Thankfully, mine aren't stupid enough to come and get me because they know they'll die in a snap." Mom snapped her fingers, and then we all heard the intercom go off.
"We are approaching Mormore City Metro Station. I repeat, we are approaching Mormore City Metro Station," the conductor announced. We all looked out the window to see it, Mormore City. The massive circular city was practically beaming with life as we saw the lights flashing and even heard the sound of music all the way from here. It had to be bigger than Lucks Heart because even from five miles, we could see the city clearly. This was it; this was where we could find one of the other Constructors.
While we were constructing the plan the other night, Head Mistress had mentioned that there was an academy in Mormore city. She said that 'this would be a good place to start our search for the Constructor. Since there haven't been any major outbursts of powerful mages in recent years, then that means that the Constructors are either hiding their magic or learning to control or suppress it. And what better place than to start than at an academy, a place filled with awkward, young mages who already can't control their magic.'
"Wow, it looks so beautiful." Julia was in complete awestruck at the sight.
"It is, isn't it?" Mother looked with Julia and let out a sigh. "However, I do have to say we won't be joining you two. Sharon and I have other business to attend to in the city. So, I'll give you these." Mom reached into her satchel and took two things out, a sheet of paper and a crystal. "The piece of paper is the address of the hotel we'll be staying at. I'll pay for it and everything. And the crystal is a transponder crystal. Use it to call us if we're not in the room."
"Will do mom." I nodded and put the things in my backpack.
After five more minutes of waiting, we finally made it to the metro station. The moment the doors opened, music from street performers echoed all throughout the station. The combination of each musical style sounded like a symphony to my ears, except it got better as we left the train. At every corner, musicians and singers were performing for the crowds. It was all so overwhelming to hear that I was lost in a daze of euphoria, until Julia grabbed my shoulder. I shook off my pleasure to the sound of music.
