After another week and a half in the hospital, I was finally discharged and was back at the orphanage. The doctors told me that I had to be careful to make sure that the stitches didn't open, so I was limited to staying in my room until the wound fully healed. It was honestly dull to stay in my room all day, but the kids would come in and help me pass the time. Since I couldn't leave my room, Julia was the one that would cook and take care of the kids when Father Alric had to leave to do blessings.

Since I was stuck in my room all day, I decided to practice doing things with just my left hand. I was surprised at how quickly I was able to learn to use it. I always thought that I was only right-handed, but it looks like I'm ambidextrous. After working with my left hand a bit, I decided to take a break and glanced out my window. I was staring at the playground and saw that there was no one in sight. Then I got a whiff of something delicious and it hit me just then that it was time for lunch. Because I was stuck in my room, Julia was the one doing the cooking for now. The smell of lunch reminded me one of the dishes I would make back at the diner and the thought came to me.

I wonder how everyone's doing without me.

There was only one way for me to find out and that was to sneak out, but that was easier said than done. The kids were Julia's other eyes, and if they spotted me leaving, they would report to her in a flash and I would get out of here. I needed to think of a plan to escape, and the only exit is the front door. I looked at the clock and saw that it was noon.

So there aren't any kids outside and its noon, lunch should be getting served right now. This is my chance to sneak out!

I peeked out my door and looked around to see no child in sight. It was now or never, and I wasn't gonna let this chance slip past me. I snuck past the mess hall and was inches away from the front door. All I had to do was open the door and I was home free. But then, suddenly, I felt someone poke my back and my body went cold.

Crap I've been caught!

I slowly turned around to see one of the younger girls behind me looking at me with her twinkling eyes. "Big Brother James, what are you doing?"

Come on James, think of something! "Uh, I was just heading out for some fresh air, being cooped up in my room all this time has made me stiff. If you don't tell Julia I'll you bring back a treat, how does that sound?"

The girl's face light up and she quickly nodded and gripped my shirt. "Take me with you!"

"What?" I gave her a face of complete shock. This little girl was nuts if she thought I was gonna let her come with me.

"I'm not from here, and I came here to this orphanage not long ago. Big Sister Julia promised me that she would take me around to show me Rocksteady, but she's been busy taking care of everyone else. So maybe Big Brother James can take me instead?" The girl gave me the brightest smile that pierced right through my heart.

Damnit, how can I say no to that smile?! But if I did say 'yes' she would definitely get me caught. This girl is either clever, or she really wants to see Rocksteady.

"Alright come on, but we have to be quick, so no one notices us." I opened the door and the girl runs out as I followed behind. "By the way, what's your name?"

"Hehe, its Bianca Van!" Bianca spoke with joy, and it warmed my heart.

I was touring Bianca around Rocksteady, showing her the botanical garden, the shopping district, and the pier which, she seemed to like the most of everything I've shown her. But now it was time to keep my promise and give Bianca her treat. We headed to the diner and once we stepped inside it looked just as busy as usual; the waiters and waitresses on their toes getting the customers their orders. When one of the waiters finally noticed us, he came over and greeted us.
