The air around us got still and cold as we locked eyes and waited for our fight to begin. This will be the first time that I'd be fighting another Soul Mage, so I needed to be careful. Leala was known as the Fear Witch in the academy and used her emotion foci known as Voxus to fight. She only had one foci that she could control fluidly, while I had four emotional foci, which I could also control fluidly. But there was something scary I could sense from the two.
When the fight starts, I'll wait and see what she does and then choose which of the girls will come out.
A second later, Alice came down and raised a red handkerchief. "As soon as I let this go, the round may begin. Are you two ready?" She looked at Leala, and she nodded, and then to me, and I nodded as well. "Then let the first round of the finals begin!"
Alice let the handkerchief go, and Leala immediately let out the first attack by surrounding the battlefield with her dark aura. I couldn't believe I was feeling this much negative energy. It was overwhelming, and it was hurting so much. I needed to do something about this quickly.
Amy, I need you!
I'm here, Julia, Amy tags in, and the overwhelming aura stops hurting. She then starts to run at Leala, who was still focusing on spreading her aura.
Ester, it's your turn.
"About damn time!" Ester tied her hair up as she jumped up and dove down towards Leala.
"Voxus she's coming, do something," Leala commanded.
Yes, Leala. Voxus stepped in front of Leala and turned into a giant ghost-like hand and caught Ester in midair. She slowly began to clench her fist tightly, but then suddenly opened as I shot out, this time with pigtails.
"It's Emma's turn to cause some mayhem, yeah!" Emma twirled in the air, summoning dozens of soul orbs around her, and then she stopped. "Soul Spell: Barrage." Emma snapped her fingers, and the dozens of orbs flew right over to Leala.
"Voxus!" Leala shouted.
I'm on it. Voxus created her own soul orbs, and counter fired Emma's. The soul orbs exploded with contact, leaving a gust of mist in the air.
"Where is she? I can't see her!" Leala tried to look around, but Emma was nowhere to be seen.
"Soul Spell," she heard behind her and turned her head to see Emma casting a spell right on her back with a big smile on her face. "Soul Collision." The small orb that formed in Emma's hands erupted the moment it touched Leala. It sent her back, and she crashed on the floor. Emma jumped with joy as she was excited about her successful attack. "Did I do good, Julia?"
Yes, you did. Now come back; it's my turn.
"Okay!" Emma tagged me back in, and my hair changed back to normal. I watched as Leala got up with a big scorch mark on her back from the Collision Spell.
"You know the Soul Collision Spell...that's impossible. Only a few have ever been able to master that spell. How could you know it?!" Leala demanded.
"Someone special to me taught me that spell. With my four foci, I can do that spell with ease, and that's not the only spell I know. Shall I show you the others?"
"Voxus, it's time!"
Finally, Voxus nodded.
The aura that Leala let out formed a black dome around the battlefield, and hardly any light passed through, making it hard for me to see. I had no way of tracking her. I couldn't even sense her soul, so she must be blocking it with the help of the dome. I could hear her darting past me quickly from all angles, and soon I realized what was going on as I felt sharp claws graze my skin.
