Against The World

I got stunned, unable to move nor utter a word. I find it hard to breathe. I was just simply looking at him for a minute or two, trying to comprehend what he just said.
Hindi ko magawang ialis sa kanya ang aking tingin. Gusto kong manigurado na totoo 'to. Gusto kong i-assure sa aking sarili na hindi ito isang biro mula sa kanya. Nakakabigla at nakakapanghina. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang dapat kong maramdaman.
"Cy. . ." Sambit ko sa kanyang pangalan. Napalunok ako at nagsimulang mag-init ang aking mata. "Tell me that this is true. Assure me that this isn't some kind of a joke."
Because if it is not, I would definitely forget all my worries. I won't even think twice. This is going to be a 'yes' no matter what.
Kinuha niya ang kanang kamay ko. Pumikit siya at marahan niyang hinalikan ang likod ng aking palad. Wala sa loob na napapikit rin ako kasabay ng pag-alpas ng luha sa aking mata.
Lahat ng sakit parang nilipad ng hangin. Lahat ng pag-aalinlangan at pag-aalala ko kung ano ang kahahantungan namin ay tila nawalang parang bula. Paano? Paano nagagawa ni Cy na pawiin 'yon sa isang iglap?
"Your parents might disagree and they might accuse me of taking advantage of your vulnerability. I know they are not really into some bastard like me. They want you to love someone who has no damage in his entire history. Someone who has a good background and not someone who puts you in danger. They want a man who is the best on everything. And, angel, that's definitely not me. I'm not on the list. Not even at the least." He sighed before he continues.
"I'm no best man but I'm willing to be one if that's the only way to have their approval. I can't promise you anything but my love. I can't be proud of what I have now because that's not mine. Not even my name and you know why. It's all temporary. I want something that will last for a lifetime and that's you, Anne. You are my forever. I'm pretty sure that you are destined to be mine."
I was crying yet I can't stop myself from smiling. This man have some inhuman powers to make a girl go crazy just by his words.
"One thing that I can assure you now, even if the world will go against us, nobody can take this love away from me. I won't let you go , Annielle Martin. Let's make it legalize. Marry me."
Dumilat ako. Nakabukas na ang kanyang mga mata at may matamis na ngiti sa kanyang labi.
For me, everything is perfect. There's no roses, no candlelight dinner, no soft music, no fireworks but it feels so damn good. It's a perfect proposal scene as sun starting to go down, orange sky above us, wind blowing softly against our skin, him holding my hands as he kneels in front of me, me looking at him with so much emotion that I couldn't define word by word as I stand in front of him.
Saka lang ulit pumasok sa isipan ko na nasa rooftop kami. Oh, my God. Naisip niya ba talagang. . .
Niyakap ko siya agad. Parehas na kaming nakaluhod. Muntik pa kaming mapahiga kung hindi niya naitukod ang kamay niya sa sahig. Marahan siyang natawa habang niyayakap ako pabalik.
"Angel, I know it's impossible for you to say 'no' but I want to hear your 'yes.'" He said in teasing tone. Marahan kong hinampas ang kanyang balikat. Sinubsob ko ang aking mukha sa kanyang leeg. "Come on, angel, say it." He encouraged.
"You know it's a yes." Hindi ako makapagsalita ng maayos. Punung-puno pa rin ng emosyon ang dibdib ko at nahihirapan na akong hanapan ng salita ang nararamdaman ko.
