Junggeun Ahn (Class 7)

Junggeun Ahn was born on the 27th of September 1997. He was 16 when he died.

Junggeun was born premature, because her mother was suffering from cancer. He spent the next few weeks of his life in an incubator, and his mother passed away. Junggeun's dad soon married a woman, who became his step-mother. Junggeun was a sports fan, and he loved baseball and soccer. He even broke his shoulder during a match of baseball, and his parents urged him to stop. Junggeun also played the bass guitar. Before the field trip, he gave his guitar to his dad and told him to practice. He dreamed of becoming a police officer, but later changed his mind and decided to be a basketball player instead.

During the sinking, Junggeun gave his life jacket to his friend, then jumped to the ocean, trying to help others. He was found unresponsive, and rushed to the hospital, where he died two hours later.

He rests at Pyeongtaek Lakeside Memorial Park.
