Donghyeop Kim (Class 6)

Donghyeop Kim was born on the 16th of January, 1998. He was 16 when he died.

Donghyeop was intelligent, and had a good sense of humour. His goal was to go to college, but his ultimate dream was to become an actor.

Donghyeop's phone was retrieved and he had recorded footage from inside the ferry about an hour before he died. He is seen joking around with his friends in their cabin, unaware of the situation. They lived in he hope that they'd be rescued, but they were being abadoned every minute. His phone likely had more footage, but it was deleted by the government. His last contact was with his sister. He called her, and told her that he is worried about them. His father gives a small statement at the end of the video. ''I am the father of Donghyeop Kim. I didn't mask him, I revealed his name. My son is not a criminal. I would have been if he had been a criminal.''

His body was recovered and returned to his parents. He now rests at Ansan Sky Memorial Park.
