Jihye Kwon was born on the 2nd of April, 1997. She was 17 when she died.
Jihye was the youngest of two sisters. She didn't ask much, and she felt bad when her mother gave her pocket money. She'd always tell her mother how her day went, and baked sweets during anniversaries. Jihye was good at dancing and singing, and overall was a very bright and happy person. Her ultimate dream was to become a dentist.
Before leaving the house to board the ferry, her mother had started crying. ''Mom, you can't cry. I will go to Jeju Island, take pictures. Laugh at that okay?'' It cheered her mother up a bit, and she said her goodbye to her daughter. Jihye even promised to call her on the 16th day, because it was her parents' wedding anniversary. She was dragging that heavy bag behind her. The 16th day came and went, no words from Jihye.
Her body was recovered and returned to her parents. She now rests at Pyeongtaek Lakeside Memorial Park.
