Minji Kim was born on the 11th of September, 1997. She was 16 when she died.

Minji was the youngest child of her family, living with her father and older brother. She was really shy and quiet, but very mature for her age. But she still did her teenage girl things, like fangirled over the kpop group Beast, especially over her favorite member, Yoseob Yang. She aspired to be like him, and begged her father to let her attend either an acting school or a singing school. She got neither, but auditioning for a singing competition was enough for her.
Minji didn't dream of fame though, instead she wanted to become a veterinarian, because she loved animals.

Minji had a habit of calling her father multiple times a day, but on the 16th of April, her father heard no words from her. He could only imagine how scared Minji was.

Her body was recovered 6 days after the sinking and returned to her family. She now rests at Ansan Sky Memorial Park.
