Doeon Kim (Class 3)

Doeon Kim was born on the 8th of December, 1997. She was 16 when she died.

Doeon had a good relationship to her mother. They wore matching rings, like they were engaged, and this was seen as odd by others. Her last words to her mom were 'I love you'. She had hugged her, and boarded the ferry with her friends. Doeon played the piano well, and had a talent for writing poetry, even winning contests! She had also been active at the school drama club during the first year, and received an award at Youth Theathre Festival. She was a polite and respectful person, especially towards her teachers, because she dreamed of becoming one herself. She always said she was going to be a good teacher, because she was good at making others laugh.

According to survivors, Doeon was trapped during the sinking, and couldn't escape even if she wanted.

Her body was recovered and returned to her family. She now rests at Pyeongtaek Lakeside Memorial Park.
