Soyeon Kim was born on the 6th of October, 1997. She was 16 when she died.
Soyeon grew up as an only child, without a mother. She lost her when she was 4, and his father worked on multiple jobs to support Soyeon. Soyeon spent her time with him, and at the karaoke with her friends Bitnara Kim and Jisook Baek from the same class, or studying. Her favorite food was steamed fish with rice. Soyeon also was active at church, and volunteered at a charity that helped single parents with raising kids. She had also tried writing books, and they were published after her death. Soyeon's dream was to become a middle school teacher, that's why she studied hard.
During the sinking, she was texting her dad. ''Dad, can you get me out of here?'' she sent. Following that, she sends ''The water is already here''. That remains her last text message. At Jindo, screaming could be heard. Her fahter was screaming her name. He had lost his only daughter, the one and only. He gained the nickname 'crybaby' because he didn't really do much else for the next week.
Her body was recovered and returned to her family. She now rests at Hwaseong Sky Memorial Park.
