Geonwoo Kim was born on the 28th of June, 1997. He was 16 when he died.
Geonwoo was raised by his grandmother until he was 6. He developed a good relationship with her, but still took a good care of his mother. Geonwoo was a trustworthy, bright, responsible and strong young man. He was a good leader, and was sometimes called 'feminine' because he was so sweet and caring for others. He was popular at school, and even most teachers liked him. He was friends with Seongho Park from the same class. He loved sports, and was quite good at them. Often playing soccer, he was in a soccer team outside of the school, and he won contests in rope skipping when he was in the 5th grade. He also loved riding his bike. Geonwoo had thought of becoming a priest, but he really wanted to become a physical education teacher. When asked why, he said that it would be fun to teach kids sports.
His last text message was to his mother at 9:40am. ''Mom, don't worry. The rescue team is here, I can hear them. I'll come out and call out for you okay?''
His body was recovered and returned to his parents. He now rests at Hwaseong Sky Memorial Park.
