Adventures, Memories, and Everything in Between

a poem about self love and where/who i hope to be someday*

we are the goddesses of the earth.
we will let honey drip from our veins, the golden ichor spilling into the soil and making flowers grow on impact,
we will let mother nature fertilize the ground on which we walk,
we will let the wind whisper sweet nothings in our ears and giggle with sly smiles because
we know something that they all don't.
we will let little leaves grow from our hairlines and let the roots reside in our brains, letting the thorns embed into our memories and make room in our souls to let them thrive.
we will rule the world with the notes that slide off of our tongues and settle into the clouds when we sing, hearing the melodies once again when the rain falls from the heavens, destined to hit our skin.
we will let father time fall to his knees for us, we will take his hands and hold them for a while. we will listen to him tell us the things he has seen.
we will inhale light and exhale perfume, and everywhere we go will have a light pink haze, and life will be rose-colored and lovely.
we will love ourselves and everyone around us unapologetically, never batting an eye at anyone who has the audacity to judge us.
they will love us and hate us because there is something about us that is different- something that they can't quite place their fingers on. something that they envy.
we will watch the butterflies and talk to the moon and kiss the walls of our homes and thank them for keeping us safe.
we will know that the world listens when we talk, even when people don't.
we are the ones that everyone forgot when they moved on to bigger things than just the world that surrounds them,
when they started looking down into their little schemes instead of up into the sky that loves them oh so dearly.
we will have tea with each and every one of the stars who know our names, and stop to chat with a new planet every other thursday because we are the goddesses of the earth.

and we will not let anything take away our halos.
