a fairy tale

i want to tell you a story.

its a far-from-perfect love story,
but its the best one i know.

there once was a princess. she was 15 years old.

she grew up without many friends. she had one who she'd had since she was very, very young. other than that, friends came and went like leaves in the wind. they would all just get tired of her eventually.

until one day, the astronaut came.

he came to the kingdom with a request for the king, but upon seeing the princess, he forgot why he had come. he walked up to her and they talked. for a long time.

they exchanged phone numbers.
yes, princesses have phones too.

they talked for a few days, and met up for a date once.
after a little while, the princess asked the astronaut if he loved her. he said yes. and thus, they became lovers.

but as their relationship grew, so did a terrible darkness that swept over the kingdom. it was law that the princess had to marry someone of royal blood of her fathers choice, or else she could marry of her own choice at age 17. she just had to hope that the king didnt choose a husband for her for another two years.

they continued to fall in love, and the darkness continued to grow. they were told that if they stayed together, that the darkness would swallow the kingdom, so the king tried to separate them. they still secretly communicated, and the darkness swallowed the kingdom.

the king was furious, as were the parents of the astronaut.

they were forbidden from seeing each other, until she was 17.

they took away any means of communication they could have.

they said if it was true love, then it will last for another two years.

well, the princess turns 16 very soon.

and legend has it,

she still waits from the top of her tower,

with her photos and the gifts he gave her,

for the astronaut to come back,

so she can finally get

a goddamn good nights sleep.
