16. Angles, in all Shapes and Sizes

I was woken by the sound of a machine beeping loudly. I slowly opened my eyes and saw I was in the hospital, oh no. I looked up at the white ceiling and internally cursed myself for causing more trouble.

"Oh thank God." I heard someone say but I couldn't tell who. The same voice then began to yell "Dad she's awake. Someone get Dr. Cullen."

Edward? Shit! I just keep ruining everyone's lives.

"What son? Calm down she might just be drifting in and out of conscience." Another voice said Carlisle?

And with that I fell back into the black abyss.

"Please wake up." The same voice from earlier whispered. "I know I said that I haven't let myself become that dependent on you but Bella I have. I need you." The voice said squeezing my hand.

I had to wake up, he needed me.

"Bella I love you." The voice whispered. "Just please wake up."

My eyes flickered open and immediately met with my favourite pair of green eyes. He was kneeling beside the bed, his eyes looked tired and his face was very pale. He was going to give himself wrinkles if he kept frowning like that.

"Edward?" I asked hoarsely.

"Oh Bella, I love you so much. You scared me." He said running his hand over my head. He reached over my head and pressed the button. I heard the door open "Get my Dad and my uncle Max please." He said to the person by the door never breaking eye contact with me.

A moment both men came running into the room followed by Emmett and my Dad.

"Geez Bella can we ever leave you alone?" Emmett said coming over to the bed and kissing my forehead.

"I guess not." I said. I reached out for Edward's hand and took into my own. I then asked the question I was almost afraid to ask "How is he?" I asked.

Every man in the room knew which he I was talking about. Max and Carlisle looked between each other and Charlie and Emmett didn't make eye contact.

"No..." I gasped I looked at Edward realisation spread across his face.

"No Love, no. It was touch and go for awhile but he's fine." Edward said I nodded my head.

"Then why do they look like that?" I asked pointing to the other four men in the room.

"It turns out the sonogram missed something." Edward said.

"What?" I asked.

"Guys, can you give us a minute?" Edward asked, the others nodded and quickly exited the room.

"Edward? What did the sonogram miss?"

"The sonogram missed the other baby." Edward said quietly.

"What other baby?" I asked.

"Bella it was twins." He said, I gasped.

"Was?" I asked.

"They had to perform an emergency c-section; they determined the other baby would be safe so they left him in. But she's in the NICU." He said holding my hands, which were now shaking violently.

"She?" I asked and Edward nodded "How is she?" I asked the fear had returned in me.

"At this very moment she's stable but the doctors can't be sure." Edward said.

"I want to see her." I said.

"Bella we can't." Edward tried to explain but I wouldn't to listen to him.
