@MJisawesome24838 thanks for your request!
In all honesty, I've never watched Hamilton and only listened to a few songs. So I'm placing this in the timeline of 'Burn'/ 'First Burn' because I know basically what happens there. What you see above is my character study. I spent a lot of time studying about it-I guess trans! Roman.
Roman pressed a hand to his mouth, his eyes misting with tears. He thought his husband was loyal, but apparently not. His sadness burned into something more dangerous.
Anger.
He grabbed the love letters that Janus and he had exchanged. Foolish letters from when Roman could not think about anyone but Janus.
He grabbed a candle and re-read the letters, trying to find a sign that he was actually married to this man, signs that Janus was truly in love with him. He clenched the edges of the paper, wrinkling it and tearing it slightly.
He remembered what Logan had said. He buried his face in his hands.
He heard the door open. He wiped his eyes and faced his husband.
"Why? You ruined our lives." He said in a whispery voice.
"I had to, Roman. I-"
"Save it. You prefer politics. You go to the world first, and it travels to me last. I may not be as intelligent as Logan, who you seem to hold dearly within your heart, but I know I am not your biggest loyalty."
Janus paled as Roman bundled up the letters.
"I keep reading them, hoping, that you seemed to love me as much as my lovesick letters thought you did. Well, I think that the historians should speculate over this founder of liberated America, what sort of man he was to his partner. They'll wonder how Roman reacted when you broke his heart. They'll find these burnt letters, their ashes in our home, and tried to read the legible pieces."
He opened the candle holder's door and put the letter over the naked flame.
"Roman!" Janus cried out.
"What?! You brought him into our bed, and to clear your name you tarnished our relationship. You published his letters, and those letters are how you will be defined so many years in the future. Logan told me you were Icarus, flying so close that your wax wings melted from the sun's heat. Ignorant of warnings. I can see why now."
"Please, I know it was a mistake-"
"The world has no place in my heart. It has no place in our bed. By making love to a practical stranger you have forfeited your right in our bed and my heart!" Roman said, raising his voice, burning another letter and then throwing them at his feet.
"You didn't think about the children! Patton will grow up being pitied as his father had cheated while he was in the world," Roman said bitterly.
"Just like these letters," Roman started, making eye-contact, "I hope you burn"
It's a bit short...but I researched for any future Hamilton requests or one-shots. I still don't think my writing's worth all the views but eh, I'll roll with it.
