Racing Thoughts

Izuku trudged down the street away from the Todoroki household, his hands stuffed deep into his hoodie's pockets. Aizawa would be driving down this road anyways to pick him up so he'll just get a head start. He could feel tears threatening to escape from his eyes but he quickly wiped them away.

"Endeavor's right. As long as I have a bounty on me I can't just be hanging around my friends. It'll put them in danger too." He mumbled softly to himself. Out of all the people in the world, why did it have to be him that this had to happen to.

Headlights appeared from the end of the street as a black car drew closer towards the greenette. Midoryia let out a sigh of relief.

The car pulled up next to him and rolled down the passenger window, revealing Aizawa.

"Midoryia what the hell are you doing? You know it's dangerous for you to be walking around by yourself in the middle of the night. What happened to studying at Todoroki's?" He asked, concern and anger both present in his voice. Midoryia just shrugged his shoulders and stepped into the car, buckling his seat belt and leaning back into the seat.

Aizawa looked at him and then put the car in park. "What happened?"

Midoryia turned his head towards the window, looking out at the street lamps that lined the sidewalk.

"It's nothing."

"That's a lie and we both know it." Aizawa said, turning in his seat so that way he was facing him completely. "Come on kid. What's wrong?"

Midoryia sighed and sat up in his seat. "Endeavor showed up-"

"Did that dick say something to you?"

Midoryia nodded his head softly.

"Come on Midoryia. Endeavor's a scumbag, you shouldn't take what he says to heart."

"That's the thing though...what he said was true."

Aizawa gave the boy a confused look. "What exactly is it that he said?"

"He said...that I was a danger to my friends around me while I have the bounty on me."

Aizawa smacked his forehead with his hand. "I'm going to kick that guy's ass. You're not a danger to anyone."

"But if bounty hunters come after me and my friends try to stop them they could get killed or worse!"

"That's not going to happen because I won't let it happen." Aizawa said sternly, as if he was trying to speak it into reality. "Those guys aren't going to get you, not while I'm here."

"You don't know that."

"Yes, Midoryia, I do." He then gave the boy a soft smile. "Trust me?"

Midoryia couldn't help but give him a small smile back. "Of course."

Aizawa seemed satisfied with the answer and put the car back in drive, pulling off into the street. Midoryia looked back out the window, his thoughts still racing through his head. One thought in particular stuck out the most.

No matter what Aizawa says, one day their defenses are going to be lowered and there's nothing that they will be able to do to save Midoryia.
