“You can apply for a scholarship in New York if you want to”kuya said, looking straight to my eyes.
“Meron din akong narecieve na email from mommy’s secretary about that scholarship…”I replied.
“Are you going to New York?”Paulo asked me.
“I don’t know”I replied.
Masyadong malayo ang New York, pero sa tingin ko magandang opportunity na iyon para sa akin.
“If I were you, I will apply for the scholarship”sabi naman sa akin ni kuya Charles.
“Since you love running away, go for it”tinignan ko si kuya Twixx ng masama dahil sa sinabi niya. I didn’t run. I faced the problem and decided to take a break.
“Why don’t you give it a try?”I looked at him while he was grinning.
“I’ll think about it kuya…”I replied.
Nagvibrate na ‘yung cellphone ko, kailangan ko na pumunta sa classroom kasi may klase na ako. I fixed my things then walked away from them.
I saw Ady inside the basketball court, mag-isa lang siya at wala si Katherine sa bleachers. Nagtuloy-tuloy lang ako sa paglalakad hanggang sa nakita ko si Katherine na lumabas ng canteen, humarang siya sa dinadaanan ko kaya ako napatigil sa paglalakad.
“What do you want?”
“Why did you come back?”she asked.
“Why do you care, Katherine? Kinakabahan ka na ba kasi nandito na ulit ako?”I grinned at her and continued to walk.
I also saw Katherine’s reaction. She didn’t expect that I can say those word to her. Kulang pa iyon sa inis at sakit na naramdaman ko noong kami pa ni Adyson.
“No classes today, Khallie”sabi sa akin ng kaklase ko.
I sighed then get my phone from my pocket. I tried to call kuya, pero hindi niya sinasagot. Sigurado ako na may klase na silang magkakaibigan.
Lumabas ako ng campus, dumiretcho sa Icecream Shop na paborito kong kainan. Habang kumakain ako ng icecream ay nagvibrate ang cellphone ko, I saw Kenneth sent me a message.
Kenneth Sean Vasquez: Can we talk, ate Khallie?
Khallie Kate Fajardo: Saan ka? Let’s meet halfway.
Kenneth Sean Vasquez: School.
Khallie Kate Fajardo: School field. Meet you in ten.

After I ate my Ice cream, I went back to the school. Pinuntahan ko ang kapatid ni Ady sa soccer field. I saw that he’s waiting for me so I sat beside him while watching the sunset.
“Why do we need to talk, Kenneth?”
“Welcome back”he said.
I smiled, still not looking at him.
“Thank you”
“Is it too late for you to come back?”he asked.
“We can’t fix everything as long as Katherine is around”I replied.
Iyon ang totoo. Hindi matatapos ito hangga’t nandyan si Katherine. Siya ang dahilan kung bakit kami naghiwalay ni Ady. Siya ang dahilan kung bakit nasasaktan pa rin ako ngayon.
Kapag nandyan siya ay pinaparamdam niya lang na kaya niyang kuhanin sa akin si Ady ng paulit-ulit. Na hangga’t nandyan siya, hindi babalik sa akin si Ady.
