Its game time Becca

I take one last look at the group of 11 in front of me. Sam is standing next to me with a very serious game face on.

"Okay", Sam begins speaking, "one last time, Becca will try speaking to your future king, if he refuses to come willingly Becca will mind link us. While Becca is speaking to River we will surround the house, covering all possible exits, if he refuses to come willingly, when he exits the house whoever is closest the him will restrain him. Remember", Sam continues, "River is your future king, do not under any circumstances hurt him. If he struggles too much I will sedate him. Don't hurt him or let him get away. Our pack members have informed us that River is already injured, while we don't know the extent of the injuries, we need to be aware so we don't hurt him any further".

"Becca will give additional instructions once River is secured. I have cleared the border patrol so he will not get spooked when approaching the house. Under no circumstances can you let him see you before Becca gives the order. You do not speak, you are only here as the muscle, so no mention of Rivers sister and no comments or reactions to anything that happens", Sam barks out to the group.

After Sam's rant I chime in, "you all have been selected because you are the best of the best, this is a happy day, we are securing our kingdoms future by securing my mate and your king. Years from now we will look back on this day as the beginning of my great rule as queen with my amazing king by my side. This mission will have lasting effects, not just on the happiness of your queen but also the success of our kingdom, a queen without her king is destined to fail and I won't, we won't let that happen!"

As soon as I finish the room breaks out in cheers, every member of the royal pack wants a happy queen and they know this will bring prosperity to our kingdom for generations to come.

I dismiss the group of warriors so they can prepare while Sam waits for the room to clear. "Becca" Sam begins speaking, "I have everything in order, your father is awaiting the signal to collect Hope and your room is all set up" she says winking at me.

I can't help but blush and she mentions her extra additions to my bedroom. I cover my face, "what if this is a mistake Sam" I say starting to second guess myself.

Sam slams her hand on the table, "listen here Becca, this is the only option, how will you be able to rule a kingdom broken hearted? We are doing this for our kingdom, and every pack member that you rule over. All of our pack members want a happy queen, we deserve a happy queen and you deserve to be happy too. Plus", Sam continues, "what kind of life will River have if he leaves? He will be broken hearted too, working multiple jobs to support Hope, it's not the life the moon goddess chose for him. If you let him leave you are discarding the will of the goddess and you will bring disruption to our pack. This is not just about you Becca, we are doing this for our pack, Hope and River, don't ever doubt this decision because it is for the best, trust me" Sam says.

"What if he never forgives me?" I whisper. Sam laughs, "listen girl, for a while he may be pissed and less than cooperative but eventually he will love you as much as you love him, plus it's not like it will hurt" she winks. "In the mean time", Sam continues, "in private he can throw as many fits as he wants and in public you can force his cooperation using Hope. River will do whatever he has to in order to keep his sister safe" Sam says, "you and I both know you would never hurt her but River does not know that and we can use that to our advantage".

I sigh, deep in thought, "I hope you are right Sam, I just need him to know I regret everything I did to hurt him and that I love him so much".

Sam smiles sadly at me, "Becca for a while you will just have to show him how much you love him through your actions, right now he will find it hard to believe you but over time he will see for himself how much he means to you".

"Once Hope and River are secure and safe we will deal with that poor excuse for a father also" Sam muses, "I wonder how many different forms of torture we can inflict before his body shuts down?"

I scrunch my face, "once we have Hope and River I want his father arrested and put in the cells, once things settled down a bit we will have a trial, I want to give River the first choice on punishment, it will be my wedding gift so to speak" I smile at the last point. I am almost giddy at the thought of our wedding.

Normally the marking process is done in front of the pack but with these special circumstances I will mark him privately and we will have a public wedding in its place. The pack is fully aware of the situation between River and I, while embarrassing to me I felt that it was only right for the pack to know everything.

So far the support I have received has been so positive! I had one of the pack elders, a little old woman that helped raise me, give me advise on how to encourage his participation even if he is reluctant (if you know what I mean) which surprised the hell out of me but also filled me with pride and happiness. My pack wants me happy and wants River to be our king and that is the best gift I could ever receive.

"Gus texted that he is at the house", Sam interrupts my train of thought, "okay beta" I say, "it's game time". After getting the warriors in position Sam sprays some stuff around the house and on everyone to cover our scents.

I approach Gus, "hello Gus, you confirmed that River will be here on time?", I ask.

"Yeah", it's all set Gus mumbles, feeling guilty I'm sure.

"Don't feel bad" I say, "River is going to be the king, and I will treat him better than anyone in his life has ever treated him. Once River comes in, you should walk out the back door, Sam will be waiting with your payment", I say while approaching the small table in the old kitchen area. "I have an extra 5k for your discretion, if I find out you have been talking about this you won't be able to hid from my wrath" I say while giving him a deadly glare.

"Understood" Gus says, the unease in his voice is crazy evident.

As River approaches Sam mind links me, I whisper to Gus to come into the kitchen. I can't have River running off before I can try to talk him in to coming willingly.

I hear River call out to Gus, I nod to Gus and he calls River into the kitchen. When River walks in my heart skips a beat, River is by far the most attractive man I have ever seen, not just on the outside but the inside too. Even before I knew about him protecting his sister I knew a River was a kind soul, I have watched him help classmates and older members of the town over the years. Looking at him now I can't believe how blessed I am to have him as a mate.

Things escalate quickly, going downhill fast. I knew River would not forgive me right off the bat but this boy sure does know how to hold a grudge.

I was irked that he managed to disobey by alpha command but at the same time I was proud, I guess Sam was right about the restraints being needed. I was ashamed when River asked me if I only wanted him for power, my heart breaking over and over with each word he said. I could tell that talking was not working as River started to walk away from me again, so I mind linked Sam to get the backup plan in motion.

As I look into Rivers eyes I say the only thing I can think to say, "I'm sorry".
