The money is not worth this mess Gus

Walking away from future queen Becca and River I am filled with guilt. Wow I really am a son of a bitch.

I sigh and check the envelope Sam gave me one more time. 15k is a lot of money, poor River is just too trusting. I wonder what Becca is up to, did she really just want to talk? I guess I will find out later, if River finds me and punches me in the face he survived.

I am not stupid, I know Becca wanted to meet near here pack border because it would be easy for her to drag him over if needed, I really hope she was telling the truth and not planning on killing him.

I head to the bar and drink myself into oblivion trying to drown the guilt I feel for betraying a fellow rogue.

The morning comes way too quickly and I hurry my way to school.

I don't really care about learning but I do most of my business at school so school is work if you get my drift.

I am sitting on the bleachers by the empty football field when I feel eyes on me. Looking up I scan the area only to find a group of about 15 people walking my way. I continue playing around on my phone while they make their way over to me.

When the group is about 15 feet away from me I feel it, dominance is radiating off one of the people in the group.

I glance up quickly and instantly recognize who it is. My eyes are now glued to the ground, I am panicking, any wolf within a mile can hear my heartbeat pounding in my chest.

Fuck, fuck, fuuuuucckkkk why is the rogue queen walking up to me. Goddess I hope she is not looking for me, please walk past me. I make a living being in the know, even with that I have very little information on the rogue queen. From what I have heard she is not someone you want to fuck with. I have heard stories of her stabbing an old ladies eyes out for mistakenly making eye contact with her.

Another lovely rumor is that she murdered her own mate, and is building an army to slaughter the royal pack. Keeping my eyes firmly on the ground I can see from the corner of my eye that all but one member of the group have stopped walking towards me. The rogue queen continues toward me, walking around me looking me up and down while I try not to shit my pants.

Her dominance is so strong that my wolf instantly submits, showing my neck while I look down to the ground.

"Gus is it?" The queen asks.

"Yeah, uh y -yes my queen" I reply.

"Well Gus, a little birdie told me you have some information for me about a certain pack queen, is that correct?"she asks.

"Umm may-maybe?" I stutter my reply not sure what it is that she wants to know.

"Hmmm" the queen says with a hint of humor, "well then Gus please do tell  me what do you know of this mate the royal bitch is planning to unveil at her birthday party this Saturday".

Oh fuck is all I can think, shit shit, now I am really shitting myself. Apparently I did not reply quickly enough because the next thing I know I feel a sharp pain in my side, looking over I realize she just stabbed me in the side.

Screaming out in pain, I drop to my knees.

"Now, now Gus", the queen says, "I am not a fan of waiting".

I take a deep breath and close my eyes tight. "Umm from what I have heard, Becca is mated to a rogue named River, Becca paid me 15k to trick him into meeting her just outside royal territory . I left them in an abandoned house right outside the territory last night and that is the last I saw them".

"Hmm" the queen says, "do you know why queen bitch would need to trick her mate into meeting her?"

"Uh, yeah Umm Becca rejected him the day she discovered they were mates, River accepted the rejection, Becca told me she wanted to speak to him privately to take back her rejection and that is why she asked me to bring him to that location", I spit out quickly.

"Why not just speak to him at school?" The queen asks, sounding extremely interested in the events up to this point.

"R-rriver was going to leave town with his little sister, Rivers dad is a drunk who made his life hell, so River was getting ready to run with his sister to keep her safe, he, um was not coming back to school", I say rambling on.

"Ah I see" the queen says, "and how do you get looped in to this entire thing?"

"Uh I um, River could not get a ticket for his sister without being her legal guardian, I told him I could forge the documents", I say feeling kinda guilty.

"Hmmm" the queen humms, "so you told him you had his paperwork in order to lure him to the bitch?"

"Y-y-yes" I say, feeling more and more like  a piece of shit.

"So, you are telling me that you sold out a fellow rogue to the royal packs future queen for cash?" The queen asks.

"Yeah" I reply sighing.

Laughter was the next thing I heard, not just from the queen but from the entire group, "welp" the queen says after finally finishing laughing, "I suppose you make a better rogue than River".

"So your not going to kill me?" I ask.

The queen chuckled, "no Gus I am not going to kill you, in fact I am going to give you a job, how does that sound?"

"Uh okay I guess" was my short reply.

"Wonderful the queen exclaimed, if you hear anything about River, the bitch or this farce of a mating I want you to call me" she says as she hands me a card with no name just a phone number.

"If you keep me happy Gus you may just live when I take over the wolf world" the queen says as she starts to walk away.

As soon as the queen is out of sight I start to laugh, I have never been so afraid in my entire life, I hope I never see her again.
