Confused River

Confusion and fear is all I can feel right now. I just woke up with a pounding headache in the woods near the royal castles main gates.

Looking around it looks like a war zone, bodies scattered around, the smell of blood heavy in the air. Trying to grasp what the hell is going on a beautiful but scary woman, wearing head to toe black leather with enough weapons to kill a small army is talking to me but I can't understand what she is saying. She reaches out and touches my head, pain shoots through me where she touched whatever injury I seem to have gotten but it was not just pain, it was also sparks..... oh my goddess the mate bond sparks!

I just look at her, shocked. Suddenly reality hits as she starts telling me we need to run. I am so confused, how did I get here, why am I here, why is everyone fighting...... where is Hope!!

My mate is trying to get me to run but I can't, what if Hope is here, what if she is in danger. Panic, fear, I can't think I can't move.

My mate tells me that she found a girl that fits Hope's description and she is safe but all I can register is the deep need to make sure.

I stand, getting ready to run when Becca, the future royal queen appears from behind the castle gates. She looks directly at me and dread fills my body. Becca has never taken things this far, she has hurt me yes but I never thought she would kill me.

My mate pulls me behind her and tells me quickly that Becca started this massacre, I look one last time towards Becca and then we run, my mate and I run away from the royals that want us dead towards Hope and safety.

For a brief moment it looked like Becca was sad, sad that she did not get to kill me? I know she hates me but damn I did not think she hates me enough to kill me. My stomach feels sick as my mate and I run full speed away, I am in shock, I have no memories of how I got here, I found my mate, Becca tried to kill me and apparently every other rogue she could find.

As we run my mind is filled with hundreds of questions for my mate, what's her name, how did she get involved in this fight, why did the fighting start but most importantly is the girl she has Hope, is she hurt? We run for at least two hours, more rogues join us as we run and by the time we arrive we have at least 200 in our group. Running up to what I assume is my mates pack house I am filled with worry. When we approach a man is standing by the pack house steps giving out clothes to those who arrive, I assume he is the alpha of my mates pack. My mate takes clothes for herself and me and hands mine over to me pointing her wolfs head to some trees a few feet away. I get what she is telling me to do and I run over to shift and get dressed. 

Once in human form I run over to my mate, panic must be evident in my eyes as she looks to me with loving eyes and says, "she is okay, she is at the pack hospital". My face loses all color before my mate jumps in, "no, no don't worry, the doctor does not see any physical injuries but for some reason she has no memory of what happened just like you". I breath a sigh of relief as my mate grabs my hand and starts pulling me towards what I assume is the pack hospital.

"What's your name?" I ask while we walk quickly hand in hand. She glances at me, smiling shyly, "my name is Rose Williams", she says with pride.

"It's nice to meet you Rose", I say, "my name is River Collins. Thank you Rose, I don't know what I would have done if your pack had not been there to save Hope and I" I say while giving her a soft smile. She laughs, "what are mates for" she says lightheartedly.

I smile wide, "I can't believe I found you, what an odd way to meet your mate" I say jokingly. She giggles as we approach the door to the hospital. Rose opens the door and we walk in towards a man in a white doctors coat. He nods to Rose, "my queen your mates sister is in room 14, end of the hall on the left", he says to her.

My eyes go wide as she thanks the doctor. Rose turns to me with a cocky smile, "did I forget to mention that I am the rogue queen?" she says sweetly.

I laugh nervously, "uh yeah apparently we missed that part of the introduction" I say. She lets out a genuine laugh, "don't worry River, most of the rumors are not true" she says as she winks and pulls me in the direction of Hopes room.

I can't help but relax slightly, of course the rumors are not true, she saved my life, my sisters life and she ran to help once she found out that Becca was killing rogues near royal territory, the rogue queen everyone gossips about would never do that.

I squeeze her hand reassuringly as we walk into Hopes hospital room. Hope looks up to me quickly, startled by our sudden entrance. I run over to her and hug her tight, tears threatening to fall from my eyes as Hope sobs into my chest.

"I-I was s-s-so worried about you", Hope cries out.

"It's okay bug", I coo, "we are safe, it's okay", I say while rubbing her back gently. We hug silently for a moment while we both calm down. After our heart rates go down I pull away from the hug with a big smile on my face. "Hope I would like to introduce you to Rose, my mate" I say with a prideful smile.

Hope's face morphs into surprise before looking over to Rose "OH MY GODDESS", Hope screams as she puts her arms out towards Rose for a hug.

Rose pulls Hope into a tight hug, with a brilliant smile on her face. "I am so happy to have you as a sister Hope" Rose exclaims excitedly, "I have always wanted a sister!"

Warmth fills my entire body watching my mate and sister hug, we are safe and home, what else could I ask for in life.
