I ran home after swim tryouts. Everyone did pretty well, but I was too excited to hang out with Diara, Cameron, and Draco.
But mostly Draco.
Jenson is home when I get home. I swing open the door happily, and Seth runs up to welcome me home.
"Who's a good boy!" I pet Seth as he jumps on me.
"Jay-Jay I'm home!" I call, and he runs downstairs.
"Hey, I'm off to work." He kisses my hair, and he's gone. I quickly shower and change into black leggings, a white shirt, and an evergreen jacket. I order pizza just as Diara rings the doorbell. Seth doesn't lift his head; he knows Diara too well.
"Hey!" I hug her as she walks in. She tosses off her shoes and flops on the couch.
"If Issac plays on that godforsaken Playstation one more time, I'm burning it." She says dramatically, and I laugh. Diara has a brother Jenson's age who also annoys her to insanity.
"What's your thoughts on Draco?" She asks me as I flop on the ground, leaning on the back of an armchair.
"That boy is out of this world amazing. We texted until 1 a.m. and he's just..." I can't find any words to describe Draco. He's so perfect, his perfect light blonde hair, his mysterious past, his blue-gray eyes.
"I don't have the words to describe how I would feel if he asked me to Homecoming. You know I normally don't go because of Jenson or I just am jealous of all the girls with the pretty dresses and the guys." I close my eyes for a second. When I open them, I see Diara nodding. A knock comes at the door. It's Draco and Cameron.
"Hey, guys!" I hug them both and lead them in. I get butterflies when I hug Draco.
"Sup." Says Cameron as he flops in an armchair.
"Hey." Draco sits on the big leather sofa.
I sit next to Draco. "The pizza should be here in about ten minutes," I say, and everyone nods.
"Oh my god Draco, we have to tell them about Dr. Meehan's lecture!" Diara pipes up.
"What happened?" I ask, and the two chortle.
"She FELL ASLEEP IN THE MIDDLE OF IT!" Diara starts cracking up and I'm shocked.
"No way!" Cameron starts laughing and so do I. Dr. Meehan is a very up-tight teacher, so this was out of character.
The pizza comes, and we all dig in. Thank god Jenson was gone, he would probably eat a whole pizza. We talked until around 10, but that's when it was everyone's curfew. I was a little bummed that Draco didn't ask me to homecoming, but I assured myself he would.
I cleaned up and made the swim rosters before going to sleep. Or trying to.
My phone began to ring. It was Jenson.
"Hey," I answer, sending the rosters to the copier in the hallway outside my room.
"Hey, I'm not coming home tonight. I'm staying at a friend's for a party tonight." That was all Jenson said before he hung up. I punched a pillow out of anger. Jenson was never there for me, always bouncing between friends' houses. I call Draco, mainly because I'm just angry and needed a distraction.
"Hey." He says.
"Oh hey." I contain my excitement for him answering.
"Everything okay? You sound down." Draco asks with concern.
"Just Jenson being Jenson again." I sigh. I look around my room. It's water-themed, with the ocean outlet covers, a big wave painting behind me, and water droplet lights everywhere around my room.
"Oh, I'm sorry. You should tell him how you feel. I would do that if I had your ass of a brother." I laugh a bit.
"He's just not home enough for me to even tell him that. Either he's trying to be responsible and go work, or he's at a friend's house. It's just frustrating." I huff, leaning onto my fluffy white pillow.
"Well, you have me. My dad is always working, and my mom just follows him around, so I'm always free." I smile, little blue butterflies waking up from their cocoons in my stomach.
"Thanks, Draco. I still can't believe what you and Diara told me about Dr. Meehan." I laugh a bit at the thought.
"It was so random and super funny. We just hung out until the bell rang. I saw you pace the hallways a couple of times too." Draco says, and I send him a Facetime request, which he answers. He's laying on his bed, TV on lightly in the background.
"Cool," he mutters.
"Have you never Facetimed?" I ask, shocked.
"I went to a boarding school that didn't allow phones." He says simply.
"Oh gosh, that's a strict school. I could never do that." I laugh, and Draco does too.
"What is there to do here?" Draco asks.
I think. "Well, what do you like to do? There's a lot of stuff in LA." I suggest as a start. Draco rolls around so he's holding his phone above his head.
"Where do you go?" He asks, and I blush a bit.
"The beach, the Santa Monica Pier. Shopping sometimes, but not very often. The movies, Laser Tag, Virtual Reality, there's a whole lot of stuff." I list everything that I do.
"I like everything but the shopping." Draco decides.
"Well duh, you're a guy." I retort playfully. He laughs a bit. A question pops into my mind.
"Draco how old are you?" I ask him.
" I turned sixteen on June 5th. How about you?" Draco replies.
"I'm still fifteen, but I turn sixteen on October twelfth. Do you have a license?" I ask him again.
Draco nods to the camera. "Got it the day we moved here." He says. "Back home you have to be seventeen, so I was psyched to know that it's sixteen here." I hear the accent when he talks, and I love it.
"I could not wait until seventeen. Hell, it was hard enough waiting for sixteen!" I laugh and so does Draco.
We stay silent for a second until Draco asks, "So this Homecoming thing, you have to have a date?"
"I mean it's not required but most people go with one," I say, getting a bit excited.
"Well, do you wanna be my date?" He asks.
"That would be really fun," I say and tried to not sound too excited.
Draco smirks. "You wanted me to ask, didn't you?" He jokes.
"What gave it away?" I retort, flirting a bit.
Draco shrugs and smiles. "I could tell. Well anyway, my dad wants me to turn off my phone. See you tomorrow?" Draco sits up.
"Yeah. We can walk to school together if you want." I offer, and he nods.
"Sure. See you then." I wave as he ends the call, and scream happily.
I HAVE A DATE TO THE DANCE!!
