Sometimes, you do things that you need to do, but you hate.
Something that can never be fixed.
Like sending your best friend back to the Wizarding World with his memory wiped clean.
Clean as in he has no idea who you are.
I had to do it, I had to. I didn't trust Blaise to not say a word about where I am. It hurt me, erasing the memory of my best friend. I've known Blaise since I was just eleven years old. The two of us were like brothers, always hanging out together, making fun of people together, growing up together.
Now, he will never remember any of it.
KNOCK KNOCK!
I rub my tired eyes, I hadn't slept all night. Sasha is dressed in a green sweater with black jeans and combat boots. Her hair was in a high ponytail with two strands hanging by her ears.
"Morning, sleepyhead." Sasha kisses me on the cheek and takes my hand. I rub my eyes once again.
"Are you okay?" Sasha asks me.
"Yeah, just didn't sleep well," I say. Sasha runs into the coffee shop she loves too much and comes out moments later with a cup of coffee in a clear cup.
"Try this." I could tell it was Sasha's normal order. I take a sip. The coffee taste was there, but it had a hint of caramel. The cool, refreshing taste began powering me up.
"Okay okay, enough!" I laugh as I hand Sasha back her drink. She takes a sip and smiles.
"Here, I don't need it." Sasha hands it to me as I kiss her cheek.
"Thanks." I finish the drink as we arrive at school. I spot Diara with a scowl on her face and holding a clear cup with a green drink.
"Cameron made me try matcha." Diara whines. Sasha laughs and I chuckle.
"You'll get over it," I assure her.
"My tastebuds won't." Diara jokes. The bell rings.
Sasha is her normal self in class, making me happy. I barely paid attention, my mind on Blaise.
"May I use the bathroom?" I ask Ms. West.
"Very well, Draco." I run out of the classroom and into the nearest bathroom. No one was in there.
I begin to cry.
How could I do that to Blaise? My best friend, my brother.
He'll never remember me.
But I'll always remember him.
That's the worst part.
"Draco?" A soft voice asks. I snap my head towards the door. It was Sasha.
"Get out," I say harsher than I meant it. Before I know what to do, Sasha softly hugs me. She looks into my eyes and thumbs away my tiny tears.
"Hey, it's alright. Don't cry, okay?" She asks softly as her fingers softly run through my hair.
"It's not okay, Sasha. Something terrible happened, and I can't tell you." I sniffle.
"And that's okay. Just know I'm here, okay? Why don't you take a walk outside?" Sasha suggests. "It always helps me."
I smile a bit before taking off. I take a short walk to calm myself.
Muffled voices.
Incomplete thoughts.
A heartbeat as loud as drums.
This is what Sasha goes through during her panic attacks.
During lunch, I manage to slowly take my mind off of Blaise and the memory wipe. It wasn't easy, but between Diara's funny banters with Cameron and Sasha making me smile, I managed to let go for a bit.
Sasha comes over to do homework, yet another regular occurrence. She's sitting on the couch in my room, typing on her laptop. I scoot closer, my arm over her shoulder.
"Whatcha doing?" I ask her.
"Homework." Sasha keeps typing.
"Homework later," I whine. Sasha shakes her head.
"Every single time," Sasha mutters and I laugh.
"Please?" I ask. Sasha gives up, closes her laptop, and lets me hold her. She's so small compared to me. She closes her eyes, a smile etched on her lips.
I rest my head on hers and think about everything. Although I had lost a lot moving here, I had gained a lot, too. Many amazing memories, new things I've learned.
Sasha.
Had I never ran away, I would have never met Sasha, and would probably be stuck with Pansy for another year. Not gonna happen.
Sasha's breathing slows, and I can tell she has fallen asleep. I close my eyes and say a soft prayer.
Please never hurt Sasha.
Hurt me instead.
