"Mom, we're home!" I call to Mom as Diara and I come home from the bookstore. We both hold new books in our arms and plop them down on the kitchen counter. The kitchen is probably one of my favorite rooms in the house. It's comforting with its light coffee paint job, the spice rack that's always filling the room with the smell of comforting spices, the table where we all sit as a family for dinner every single night, and of course, the pantry filled with delicious treats.
"How was the bookstore?" Mom asks.
"Good." I kiss her cheek. "By the way, can Draco come at 7 tonight with Cameron? We're helping him catch up on his work." I ask as I get a peanut butter cup from the candy cabinet.
"Sure. Can you get Issac for me, darling?" Mom asks and I nod. I jog up the stairs to Issac's room.
His room is the cleanest room I've ever seen. Everything has a perfect spot and nothing is damaged. His room has electric blue bedding with white pillows, deep blue curtains, and a few posters here and there. Issac's door was open as he lays on his bed.
"Mom wants you in the kitchen." I swing into the doorframe. Issac looks at me.
"Thanks, I'm coming now." Issac leaves his room and I head down the hall to my room. Diara is already in there typing away on her computer.
"Evan Kiely is blowing up my phone." Diara groans as she checks her phone again.
"Don't flatter yourself, he's just desperate." I joke and start to do some paper assignments from math and chemistry.
Draco texts me. "I need your new address, Ms. Dail-Myers <3." I smile.
"614 Canyon Road. See you soon :)" I send and go back to doing my homework.
A knock comes at my door exactly at 7. "Hey!" I kiss him and welcome him inside.
"Hey. Where's the reinforcement you promised?" Draco teases.
Cameron swaggers up with Diara and we all laugh. "Let's start. My mom says you can stay for dinner tonight if you want." I offer.
"Sure." We head upstairs and sit on the white leather beanbags Mom got us. I Sasha open folder to show all the assignments from the unit, all of them marked with red A's on them.
"That's a lot of stuff." Draco whistles.
"You'll be fine." I respond and we begin.
About an hour in, a knock comes at the door. "Come in!" Diara and I chirp. Mom is holding a tray of tonight's dinner which is Spagetti with chicken and pink sauce.
"Hello my busy bees! I brought you all dinner to eat up here. A pleasure to see you again, Draco and Cameron." Mom smiles warmly as she hands us all plates of steaming hot food.
"Likewise, Ms. Dail." Draco responds and Cameron nods, already eating.
"Please, call my Isabella." Mom gets all of us water and shuts the door again.
"Your mom is so sweet." Draco says as he has some chicken.
"She really is. Now, back to work!" I say, flipping to another assignment.
"Ugh I'm so done." Draco leans back onto the floor as I take our plates and stack them outside. I lay next to him while Cameron jumps onto Diara's bed.
"Me too." I joke and Draco laughs.
"We did get like ten assignments done and we only have the project left so I think we're good for now." Diara mentions and we all agree to play board games and relax. Draco takes my hand during a game of cards, but I'm not focused. The dream of the mark kept flashing in my mind. It was trying to tell me something, that Draco had to be a part of whatever the mark represents just so I can go to Hogwarts.
But what does it mean? More importantly, what does it mean for us?
"Can we take a walk?" He whispers into my ear. I nod.
"We'll be back." The two of us go out the back door of the house.
"You okay? Something's eating at you." Draco holds my hand as we walk.
"Yeah I'm fine." I lie. Draco scoffs.
"Come on, Sash. I know something's wrong, why don't you tell me?" Draco stops walking so he faces me.
I take a deep breath. "I had a dream. There was this white room that was covered in color, but then it changed into a picture. It had a tattoo with a skull and a snake, and above it was the word Deatheater. Then the picture shifted to the mark on your arm..." I drift away as Draco looks up into the dark night's sky.
"This?" He pulls up his sleeve to show the exact same mark in my dream.
"Draco...what does that mean?" I ask, scared.
"It means that I'm in this for life, Sasha. It means bad things are going to happen." Draco's eyes well with sadness and regret.
"Then why did you do it?" I ask, a bit angry.
"For you, Sasha! Don't you understand? I would give up everything in this world just to be with you." Draco comes closer and I want to scream happily.
"But you didn't have to do that..." I whisper softly.
"It was the only way that I could be with you." Draco strokes my arms, his soft fingertips grazing my bare arm.
I smirk and fall into his arms. "I love you." I say.
"And I love you. More than you can ever imagine, my shooting star." And together we stayed, protecting each other from our own fears in life.
