CHAPTER 26: A SAFE PLACE TO CRY

It was 9 when the doorbell rang.

Sidharth and his mom was sitting in the living room together.

Sidharth stood up to open the gate. The moment he opened he saw a teary eyed Shehnaaz standing there. Her kohl was smudged her face in her tear. Sidharth skipped a beat seeing her like that.

"What happened?" Sidharth asked grabbing her arms by both of his hand.

Shehnaaz's tears flowed which she was holding for a long time. She sobbed. Sidharth who was worried and scared pull her from the door and closed the door by one hand. He again asked her

"Kya hua Shehnaaz?" this time holding her a little close. Urging her to say something. All the negative things were coming in his mind that can happen to her. The moment he hears a name, he is ready to beat the shit out of someone who made her cry.

She didn't say anything and sobbed louder. That make Rita ji hear and she stood up to go there.

Sidharth after avoiding every opportunity to talk to her for last few days was now waiting for her to at least say a word. He was getting restless. His hold on her arms got tighter. He jerk her a little to say something. He felt he would kill someone if they were behind her tears. She was crying in tight hold of Sidharth in her arms.

Rita ji spoke the moment she saw her crying.

"Shehnaaz, beta kya hua?" she almost ran to them. Shehnaaz lifted her eyes and the first word came from her mouth with crying was

"Maa" she shrugged Sidharth's hand and ran to hug her.

Rita ji took engulfed her in her motherly hug. She gestured Sidharth to come inside with them as she brought Shehnaaz to the couch. She made her sit still holding her. Sidharth sitting in his knees in front of them both. Looking for a word from Shehnaaz.

"Baccha, bol kya hua? Kyun ro rahi hain? Mera ji ghabra raha hain. Sana, kuch bol beta." She lifted her chin by her hand.

"Ma, Siraat." She again sobbed. Sidharth was confused. He expected name of some guys and he was ready to break every bone they had in their body, but Siraat is a baby girl he heard from talking her mother and Shehnaaz. He wasn't scared but worried this time why she is crying. Rita ji on the other hand knew about how much Shehnaaz loved her.

"kya hua Siraat ko? Wohh thik to hain na?" she asked.

"usko,, usko aaj,, uska,, uska adoption ho gayi aaj." She sobbed louder and jumped in her arms again. Crying her heart out.

Rita ji also cried this time with her. Sidharth couldn't understand why they were reacting like this. That is an NGO and kids get adopted there if they find a suitable family for them. Its for the welfare of the children as they get a family. Then why Shehnaaz is crying like this and also his mother has tears in her eyes.

He asked her mother through her eyes what happened. She just shook her head to tell him wait.

After what it took a long time she calmed. Rita ji brought her in their room. Took her in bed and after sometimes left the room telling him to stay with her. She went to make some soup for her.

Confused Sidharth who didn't get anything went near Shehnaaz and sat on the bed. He saw her eyes close so he placed his hand on her head. Shehnaaz felt it and started crying again. She sat up resting her back on the bed rest. She was now red on her face because of crying. He couldn't bear the sight anymore. He took her face in his hand and asked,

"Baas baby, bohut hogaya. Bimar ho jayogi. Please matt rou!" his face was at a little distance from her.

She looked at him sad. He wiped her tears by his thumbs his hands still holding her face.
