I wake up in Adrian's bed, still wearing my dress from last night. He lays next to me; he is shirtless but still in his dress pants. My head aches, a dull throbbing pressing against my skull.
I have no memory of how I got here, but I am grateful I am in the arms of Adrian. I sit up, seeing that both Terrence and Marcus have girls in their beds as well.
"Babe?" I whisper into Adrian's ear. I shake him, but he doesn't wake. I sigh, shaking him with as much strength as I can muster. The movement of shaking him makes me feel ill, both nauseous and lightheaded. He startles awake before he sees me, pulling me close to him.
"How are you feeling, my love?" Adrian whispers groggily.
"Horrid." I complain, pushing against my temples.
He sits up, reaching for a bottle on his bedside table. He hands it to me gently, urging me to drink. I do, and the headache is instantly gone. He leans in to kiss me quickly, pulling away only to drink from the bottle after me.
"Better?" He asks, and I nod my head and rest my head on his shoulder as we lay together. "Well, you've experienced a Slytherin party. What do you think?"
"It was crazy, Adrian. I've never been to a party like that; it was absolutely incredible."
"I'm glad you had fun. You did look magnificent in this... and out of it." He says, smiling as he begins to trace circles on my back. We lay together for a while, not speaking. After a bit his stomach growls and we both chuckle, prompting us to get ready to go get breakfast.
He kisses my hair as we sit back up together, reaching over to his drawer before handing me some of his clothes. I head to the bathroom to change.
His large shirt goes to my thighs; his sweatpants pool around my ankles. I step out of his bathroom and he laughs a booming laugh, one that shakes his shoulders.
"Don't make fun of me, you sod!" I giggle, my cheeks turning pink. "I look ridiculous!" I laugh, climbing into his bed and covering myself with his blanket.
"Let me see if there's something one of the girls will let you borrow." He puts a tshirt on, going over to Marcus's bed. He shakes him awake roughly. "Ask your girl if she can bring in an extra set of clothes for Mira, yeah? Then we can all go eat."
Marcus groans, but I see him quietly wake the girl that's in his bed. Adrian comes back to me, grabbing a pair of flannel pants and heading to the bathroom to change. He comes out a second later, looking handsome as ever. The girl from Marcus's bed gets up, going quickly to the door and leaving.
Adrian sits with me in bed, smiling as he places a hand on my thigh. We talk quietly while we wait for the girl, and it seems only a moment passes before she comes back in the room wearing a dainty set of pajamas.
"Hey, Mira. I brought you these," She smiles. She hands me a pile of clothes kindly before she turns and goes back to Marcus.
"Are they together?" I ask Adrian quietly.
"Marcus and Julia? It seems they always end up in bed together after these things, but I don't think he fancies her enough to date her. She's nice though," He whispers back. Suddenly I am saddened for her.
I take the pile of clothes and walk into the bathroom to change. She had given me a thick shirt and a pair of flannel bottoms, which fit me much better than Adrian's clothes. I exit the bathroom, and the four of us go to the Great Hall.
I am about to break off from the group to go to the Gryffindor table, but Julia grabs my hand and pulls me to sit with the Slytherins. We walk together, sitting with a group of people who look vaguely familiar.
"Mira!" A girl calls out. She jumps up and hugs me, fluffing my hair as she tells me I look pretty. When she pulls away, I instantly recognize her as Victoria, the girl I had met last night. I am slightly taken aback, but appreciate her kindness.
I sit with the Slytherins who must be Adrian's friends. Although I am a bit uncomfortable, a bit out of place, they try to include me and make me feel at ease. If I were so easily immersed in Adrian's world, why was it so difficult to immerse him into mine?
"How're you feeling about the game today, boys?" Julia asks, batting her eyelashes at Marcus.
"We're sure to win, I'm not worried." He says, shoving more food into his mouth.
Suddenly, a multitude of owls fly through the hall, dropping letters at all of the tables. Surprisingly, two letters fall onto my plate.
Adrian receives one as well, and his face lights up. I look at the names on the letter and find one is from my mother; the other is from Molly Weasley. My heart races as I rip open Molly's letter.
Mira, dear. I received post from Fred saying you don't know if your parents will be able to make it back in time for your Christmas break. You're more than welcome to come to the Burrow, I know the kids will all be overjoyed to have you here! Send back an owl and let me know if you'll be joining us. With love, Molly.
I drop the letter, quickly opening the one from my mother. I glance up at my friends at the Gryffindor table; they talk excitedly, presumably receiving letters as well. I look back to the letter in my hands and read, sighing as a wave of sadness hits me
"You alright, love? Is it your mum?" Adrian asks, putting a hand on my thigh.
"Seems like they won't be able to make it home." I say, sadly.
"Luckily for you, my mum is just bursting to meet you. She's just written to me about how excited she is." He says, wrapping his arm around me. I nod and smile at him, not commenting on his invitation.
We have a lazy Saturday, spending most of the day in his common room as I get to know his friends. Hours pass and the time for the match comes, so I walk down to the pitch with Julia and Victoria. They had dressed me up in a Slytherin scarf and hat, and giggle with me as I sit with them in the Slytherin section of the stands.
They don't know anything about the game, but they are good company. I can't help but feel guilty that I am here instead of sitting with my housemates and my friends; we always watched the last game of the season together.
The game lasts longer than we expected, but the outcome is what we had guessed. We find ourselves in the crowd of students being pushed and prodded to the dungeons for a celebration.
I sit at a table drinking a butterbeer as I wait for Adrian. He finally arrives after I have had three of the cans, freshly showered and in good spirits. He makes his way to me with a smug grin on his face, grabbing a can of the brew for himself as he settles next to me.
"Well hello, champion." I say, kissing him. He pulls me in closely, intensifying the kiss. He brings a hand to my waist, giving me butterflies. At last I pull away breathlessly, questioning his sudden excitement.
"Can't a man want to kiss his girlfriend?" He complains.
"I'm not anyone's girlfriend. No one has asked me, you see..." I mutter, only half joking, to Adrian's dismay.
"You're right. Well then, you will be. And then I will snog you until the end of time." He pulls me in, kissing my cheek. His teammates swarm around us, and they speak and smoke casually. Adrian refuses the cigarette, citing he only smokes at parties.
I don't know what to make of that, but I stay with the group for a while longer. Night falls, and I climb back up to Gryffindor tower by myself. When I enter the common room, I am immediately caught in the disapproving gaze of my friends who sit on the couch facing the doorway.
