I take a quick shower, then get dressed in George's favorite outfit. Every time I wear this specific light blue dress, he always gives me a round of compliments. It's a bit form fitting and falls just above my knee. If it were summer, I would wear it alone; since it's chilly I throw on a fuzzy white cardigan to avoid freezing.

I look in the mirror to my mess of wet hair. I try to replicate what Hermione did yesterday, and while I tame my frizz; it's not as beautiful as it had been, but the effort was there. I walk down to the common room, but I don't see George. Had he left without me?

I walk over to the bay window, sitting on the little ledge it provides. From here, I can see the quidditch pitch just slightly. How I miss the time when I was still on the Gryffindor team. Things were so much simpler back then.

"Hey gorgeous," I hear behind me. George has a small bouquet of light pink flowers in his hands. He stands before me dressed in khaki trousers and an earth toned sweater vest over a thin white long-sleeved shirt. He had put on the outfit he knew was my favorite, just as I had done the same.

"Hi handsome," I beam back at him, "I was thinking- I know, don't be too shocked- that we may as well start our date now. What do you think?"

He walks up to me. "I was thinking exactly the same thing," he reaches his hand out, helping me stand.

"Then I believe it's time for breakfast."

We walk together to the Great Hall, hand in hand. We are in no rush, relishing in the delight of touching one another without a tension falling onto us. Our joy is short lived, for once we enter the hall we are greeted by the eyes of everyone at the Slytherin table. The spectacle which George and Fred had created yesterday was still fresh in everyone's minds.

George's energy shifts. To my surprise, it isn't a change of shame as mine is. He stands taller; he holds my hand tighter. I glance at him in shock. He doesn't look at me or at the Slytherin table; he looks ahead to where our friends are sat.

Ron and Harry choke on their orange juice when they see George and I hand in hand. We sit and begin to eat from the large spread in front of us.

"Erm, hey Mira" Harry says across the table.

"Hi Harry, how're you today?" I reply, without missing a beat. There is a tension here, but I don't know why.

"Is it true?" Ron interrupts. Hermione's eyes grow with shock in response to Ron's question.

"What, that I'm extremely good looking? How've you barely noticed, mate?" George asks. He places his large hand on my knee under the table. My heart skips a beat, but George looks forward and continues to eat.

"Well, erm, it's just that... Some second years were saying that Mira came out of... erm... your room, George. And there are... other rumors..." Harry asks, his face growing redder with each word.

"I don't care if you're the boy who lived, you dolt; don't be a bloody idiot," George snaps at him. His composure had been completely calm until now. I look to my plate, not wanting to continue the conversation. George rubs his thumb across my thigh, and my breathing quickens. His gentle, innocent touch is enough to make my heart race.

"We're meant to go out today, on a proper date, so I'd appreciate if you two arses don't ruin our mood," George whispers to them, just loud enough for me to hear. Ron and Harry look down to their food, and I can see a hint of a smile spread across Hermione's face.

We continue to eat in silence.

"Mason?" Oh Godric, you're kidding. I don't turn around, placing my hand on top of Georges to keep him close to me. "Mason, please?"

George and I turn at the same time, looking up to see Adrian Pucey standing behind us.

"What the bloody hell do you think you're doing here?" George says through gritted teeth. His grip on my leg tightens subconsciously.

"I just want to talk to you, Mira," Adrian pleads, ignoring George. I begin to reply but am cut off by George.

"You're lucky she stopped me from finding you yesterday, Pucey. You wouldn't be able to even stand near her if she hadn't kept me away. Now, you are going to leave her alone." George sits up straighter, looking Adrian in the eye.

"George please, he didn't-" I start.

"Don't defend him anymore." He looks at me, anger brimming in his eyes.

"Weasley, don't speak to her that way," Adrian finally acknowledges George's words "and as it seems, she's her own person. You don't decide for her." He looks to me again.

George begins to speak again, squeezing my knee even tighter. I wince and he lets go, a motion noted by the Slytherin standing over us.

"Adrian, I think it's best if you just go. You're making a scene" I whisper to him, looking down to his feet. The Gryffindors near us and the Ravenclaws behind him had stopped eating to stare at our standoff.

"I understand," He says to me, then looks at George, "but know this; if you ever threaten me again- or make her wince as she just did- I won't be so cordial." He looks at me once more, a sadness in his eyes, then turns and walks away from our table.

"What a right mess you've gotten yourself into, mate" Ron mutters, but I'm unsure if it was meant for me or George.

I tuck my head in my hands and George places his warm hand on my back. He leans into me, whispering in my ear, "Why don't we get out of here?"

I nod and stand, my thoughts racing. As I walk out of the bustling room with George, a pit grows in my stomach. I can't let Adrian think I'm holding my own mistakes against him. I have to talk to him, alone; and I have to do it soon.
