I walk with Adrian and Terrence down the hall to see if we can find Charlie. It's early in the morning, but we had to find him. For Terrence, of course. We need to find out how to take care of the wretched dragon.
I mean, obviously I'm excited to see Charlie. He was always friendly to me, even when he was mean to everyone else. We weren't close, perhaps we weren't really even friends. But he had always cared for me, like an older brother should. That's who he was. An older brother, to me and my best friends.
Adrian walks beside me quietly. I wonder what he's thinking. He yawns lightly before smiling at me, taking my hand.
He wasn't perfect. We had our issues and he had problems to sort through, but he was incredible to me nonetheless.
Terrence clears his throat. "So, this guy we're meeting with. He's a Weasley?"
"Yeah, he's funny. Just don't take any of his jokes seriously." I say. Adrian smirks lightly at me. We go to the main entrance of the castle, and I see a giant ship on the Black Lake.
Even from where I stand, I can hear chains clinking and loud growls. I lead the way towards the lake, Adrian and Terrence trailing behind me. I reach the edge of the water, but am unsure of where to go.
A few men work on the ship, throwing chains and shouting to one another. I walk around the lake, nearing the vessel. I see a mess of red hair amidst the workers and smile.
The boys catch up to me and I nod my head to point at him. "The redhead, that's Charlie." I say, and the boys both nod.
Terrence begins to grow nervous, playing with his hands. After a few minutes, the men exit the ship. The growling has stopped, and the air is much quieter.
"Oi! Is that Charles Weasley?" I yell, and I see his head snap up. He smiles, jumping with the ropes and walking to me. He pulls me into a tight hug, his arms wrapping around my neck. "Oh get off, you smell horribly." I joke, pushing against his waist.
"Yeah, likely. Hi boyfriend." Charlie says, nodding to Adrian. "And I'm guessing you're the owner of the illicit dragon?"
Terrence nods. "I-I know it's not legal. But he was so small, and I've always wanted to have one." He says quickly.
Charlie chuckles. "Calm yourself, mate. I'm just here to help you." He tells Terrence. Charlie wraps an arm around my shoulder and pushes me to walk with him. "Come on, I haven't got all day!" He calls out behind us. I can hear the boys start walking behind us.
"Thanks for helping us, Charlie. How have you been?" I ask him, pushing away from him to walk side by side.
"Quite alright, the same old dragon work." He says, crossing his arms.
"Yeah, dragons. How absolutely boring." I say, and we laugh together.
"What are we laughing about, babe?" Adrian asks, taking my hand.
"Oh, nothing." I say, squeezing his hand lightly.
Terrence walks a bit faster, moving to the front of the group and leading us to the castle. He takes us to the same room I had found the dragon in before, but now the room looks completely different.
It seems as if the dragon has quadrupled in size, taking up half the room.
"Godric! This is your pet?" Charlie asks, pushing past us to walk towards the animal.
"He just keeps getting bigger." Terrence blushes.
"You have no idea what this is. This is a Ukrainian Ironbelly!" Charlie says, petting the dragon on it's neck.
"What does that mean?" Terrence asks.
"Mate, those are the mega dragons." Adrian says, beginning to laugh.
"They're the largest breed. This isn't going to work for you." Charlie says, looking at us. "He'll outgrow this room by the end of the week."
"What are we supposed to do?" I ask Charlie.
He doesn't answer right away. "You'll have to get rid of him. I'm sorry, but he won't fit in here. Dumbledore will find out; he'll make you send him away anyway, and you'll get at least a week's detention."
Terrence's shoulders fall. "I've got to get rid of him?"
I walk to him, putting my hand on his arm. "I'm sorry Terrence." I whisper.
Adrian and Charlie whisper to each other, nodding and looking solemn. Suddenly, Adrian smiles. "What if we don't have to give him away?" Adrian asks.
"What do you mean?" I ask him.
"I've brought a dragon for your class already. Who's to say I hadn't brought two?" Charlie says, smiling. "That'll secure him a spot here until the end of the year."
I go to Charlie and hug him tightly. "You're awesome, Charlie! Thank you."
He laughs and pushes me off of him playfully, reaching to pet the animal again. I look to Terrence, seeing him smile and move to shake Charlie's hand, patting him on the back. "You're a great man, Charles."
"Charlie. Please." He says, his cheeks pink. "It's still early, I should try to sneak him out before more students wake up."
"Adrian and I will keep a look out." I say, grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the room.
"Mira, tell my siblings I'm here, will you? Perhaps we can all have lunch together. Meet me back at the ship whenever." Charlie tells me as I walk out.
Adrian and I walk together into the hall, and he lifts my hand to his lips. I blush lightly, pulling him to look at the stairs. There's a loud crash behind us, and we run back into the room. Terrence stands in front of us, staring out the window.
"He's mad! He broke the window and jumped out!" Terrence gasps. I run to the window, seeing Charlie on the back of the dragon. It descends slowly, and the boy calls out with excitement. Charlie was mad, but so cool. Terrence clears his throat. "I'll go down and meet him."
He leaves through the door quietly. Adrian scoops me into a hug, kissing my hair. I pull away and walk out of the room, hearing him follow me.
We walk together, but instead of immediately going to the Great Hall doors, he pulls me to a stop. "Are you hungry?" He asks me. I shake my head, so he takes me to the dungeon.
"What are we doing, babe? I need to find Fred and George." I ask him once we reach his common room. We sit on a couch; the room is quiet and calm. A chill fills me, and he pulls a blanket over my body.
"I just wanted a moment with you." He whispers to me, holding me tightly to him.
"Is something wrong?" I ask, looking into his eyes.
He shakes his head, kissing my forehead. He rubs my arm softly, and I lean into him. "I'm glad your friend can help Terrence."
"I'm glad too." I say quietly. "Would you mind if I spent the day with the twins? I'm sure they're going to want to do something with Charlie, and we never get to see him."
"Of course not. I..." he pauses, "I just feel bad about this morning, love." He tells me, looking at me seriously.
I blush at his intense gaze. "What do you mean?" I ask.
"I can't stop thinking about how you cried over my father. I swear that he does like you. It's nothing personal. I love you, and he'll have to deal with it." He whispers, leaning to kiss my cheek. He peppers kisses down to my neck, and I pull away.
I look away, towards the door. My heart aches a bit, but I nod. "I know. It's alright."
"I'll meet you for dinner?" He asks me.
"If I'm not in the Great Hall, I'll meet you on the seventh floor for bed, alright?" I say, shyly.
He smiles, nodding. He taps my back lightly, and I move to get up. I kiss his cheek and wave, walking out of the dorm and into the halls.
