Once I'm sure Mira is sound asleep, I gently untangle myself from her and stretch. She's so beautiful; I can't believe I had caused her so much pain.
I grow angry, thinking of what's happened. How completely twisted my father is, if this was really his doing. Who am I kidding; of course this was his doing.
Guilt eats at me. Potion or not, I couldn't imagine how Mira felt when she found me with Victoria. I feel so ashamed. I was supposed to protect her, supposed to make her happy. Instead I just hurt her more and more.
I kiss her on the forehead before I leave the room, going to the door as quietly as I can.
Once I'm in the hall, I take a deep breath. I need to find a way out of here. I can sneak off to Hogsmeade, ask Rosmerta to make a portkey there. It would take some time, but it seems like the easiest option. I make my way out of the castle, running out to the village.
It's freezing out; the sky is completely dark. As I leave the castle I debate my other options. I could use a faster mode of transportation. The ship is still there, and Charlie was of age. I'm sure if I told him this was a favor for Mira, he'd oblige. If not, I had a few galleons in my pants pocket that could possibly sway him.
I make my way to the ship as quickly as I can, cursing myself for not grabbing a jacket. As I near the tree in front of the ship, I see a large, dark figure leaned against it.
"Who's there?" I call out, slowing my pace. The large shape moves and pulls in half; it is two bodies instead of one.
"Adrian?" A voice calls out. It couldn't be.
"Terrence? What are you doing out here? It's freezing." I call, running towards him. Only paces away I notice his company. "Oh, Charlie, I was just looking for... oh." I say, my cheeks pink.
"Adrian, you can't tell anyone." Terrence says, his eyes wide and face scarlet.
"Of course not, erm. Not even Mira." I say, shaking my head slowly.
Charlie wipes at his mouth roughly before looking at me. "You were looking for who? Me? Why?" He says, his tone unreadable.
"I need to apparate somewhere, but I'm sixteen for a few more weeks. I was hoping you could-"
"I can take you." Terrence answers.
I nod. I had forgotten Terrence was already of age; he was quite a few months older than the kids in our grade.
"Right. Alright. Erm, I think we have to go out of Hogsmeade, if that's alright." I say.
Terrence nods and looks to Charlie awkwardly. Charlie nods and turns, going back into the ship without a word to either of us.
"Alright, let's head out." Terrence tells me, awfully quiet.
We begin to walk, and silence settles upon us. Halfway to the village, Terrence turns to me, his hands in his pockets. "You know Mira is awfully upset at you."
"I know. But it's complicated." These are the only words I can think to say. It hurts knowing that Terrence, and most likely all of my friends, know what I've done. "Terrence, I'm sorry about walking up on you two. I won't tell anyone, I swear it."
Terrence only nods, looking forward. "It's alright. Someone was bound to find out about me eventually."
"How long have you... known?" I ask, not wanting to intrude; I only wanted to figure out why he hadn't told me.
"About a year. I know I could've told you, I just didn't want to make a fuss about it." He says, his ears a dark red. I can't tell if it's from the chill or from some sort of embarrassment.
