Our days in Paris are paradise. We eat fine food and see fine places; none of it feels real. I had even spent a day with Cedric; we visited the Louvre while Adrian had suit fittings for a new wardrobe. Sadly, our time had come to an end.
Adrian and I had taken a portkey to King's Cross Station, and now we sit in our compartment on the train. We are joined by Marcus and Terrence, who tell us of their break and what they had done.
We chatter lightly, until there is a light knock on the door. "Come in." Adrian says, his voice strong and sure. I had forgotten who he was at school; who everyone else sees him as. Everyone thinks of Adrian as tough, overly confident; while he somewhat was, he was so much more.
The door opens slowly, revealing Victoria and Julia. I jump out of my seat and am enveloped in hugs from them both. We begin to talk, catching up since the last time we saw each other.
"I can't hear another second of this. I'm going to change." Marcus says with an eye roll.
We ignore him and continue to talk; the boys in the compartment try to talk to each other over our squeals and excited stories.
It's strange how much I've missed them. We had truly bonded in such a little amount of time, they felt like friends I've known for much longer than I actually have.
We speak for a while before it is time for us to change into our robes. The girls must go back to their own cabin to get their robes, leaving me with Adrian and Terrence.
"Didn't know you guys were friends." Adrian chuckles.
"They're nice. Would you prefer I hated them?" I nudge his shoulder and look up to my suitcase. He stands and lowers it for me, then returns it to its place once I get my robes.
Terrence sits silently, brooding like he often did. I try not to judge him for it, I had thought Adrian was a brooding, dark man before I actually knew him.
Adrian kisses my cheek before I head out of the compartment. I make my way calmly, in no rush. I run into Angelina and chat to her a bit, then feel a tap on my shoulder.
I turn and see Fred standing before me, a smug grin lining his lips. He motions for Angelina to go, muttering something about seeing her later.
"Hello, Mason. Quite the exit you and your git boyfriend made." He says; his tone is somewhere between joking and seriousness.
"Come to bully me?" I say, attempting to push past him.
"Come on, sister. I miss you. We used to be inseparable," He grabs my hand as he gripes. "Pretty ring... Left hand?" He asks, his ears red.
"It's just a promise ring." I blush, averting my gaze from his.
"So you two are still together?" He asks.
"Yeah. I'm sure you and George will be torn up about that." I answer as I roll my eyes.
"Cool." Is all he says in response. He clasps his hands in front of him. "Heard you spoke to Charlie in Diagon Alley. He's not much older than us, you know."
"I'm going to go change." I say, turning away from him and towards the restroom so I can change.
Godric, I miss the friendship I used to have with the twins. Fred was right, we were inseparable. Now, the boys and I talk only in bursts, more often than not they're trying to bestow me onto any other man than Adrian.
We had made such good progress; the boys had almost acted as friends at the Burrow. George just couldn't let me go. No matter how bad I had tried to tell him we were only friends, he continued to press me.
