I watch as Fred lights the fireworks, pushing Mira away to keep her safe. Mira looks nervously from him to me, a small smile playing at the edges of her mouth. Her eyes are cloudy and red, but she still is so beautiful. My heart beats faster when she looks at me, but I try to calm down.

I had spoken with Charlie at dinner last night, explaining everything to him. He had cornered me to speak about the letter I sent him, chiding me at first. When I told him what I was feeling, he didn't hesitate to act like a real older brother and take the piss out of me before actually helping me. He told me I was acting mad, which looking at it now, I really was.

"If you're the reason they break up, she'll resent you. Just wait it out, they'll be over in no time. You could even try to date another girl, see how that makes you feel." Charlie had told me. I reckon he was right; the moments Mira hated me were when I was coming between her and her wretched boyfriend.

Godric, how horrible he was. She'd come back to our dorm crying because of something him or one of his friends had done, Fred and Lee and I would have to fix it, and then she was back on her merry way! I don't know what she sees in him, but I know he isn't right for her.

Well, I reckon the same thing would happen back when I would make her unhappy. I'd hurt her and she obviously couldn't speak to Fred or Lee about it since they're my mates. She was basically forced to go to Adrian, wasn't she? How stupid of me to let that happen. Maybe that's the reason they're dating now.

I watch her as her face follows each firework that Fred lights, the colors painting her face exquisitely. She is so beautiful; her smile radiates warmth and pulls me in. I wish she were mine.

The longer I look at her, the more I notice. Her eyes are so full of wonder, so excited to see what was happening next. She is so perfect, and I had lost her. Looking back at it now, I was a complete knob. I had been too overprotective. I know now that I should not have done most of the things I did; I wasn't being fair.

I just got so upset inside thinking that there was- is- so many other guys that want her. She doesn't see it, but she is absolutely incredible. It was so easy to lose her; there were so many boys better looking than me that wanted her. I had one chance and I had messed it up.

I had pushed her away, afraid of her rejecting me for another. Looking now, I could see that she was trying quite hard to love me despite it. I loved her with my whole heart, but had spoiled it all.

I had told her I was trying to change, but honestly the thought of another guy making her laugh still makes my blood boil. I can feel my ears go hot as I think of that Hufflepuff Diggory or that new Ravenclaw boy she's friends with. We are her friends, we always have been. Since the day we met, inseparable. I'm overreacting again.

Mira comes to stand between Lee and I, wrapping her arms around our necks. We lean down so she doesn't have to stretch her arms so high up, and she kisses each of us on the cheek. I'm taken aback for a moment, but she smiles and messes with our hair.

My heart races. "And what was that for?" I ask, my face burning.

"I just missed you guys. You were right, it had been ages since we did something like this. Even if we spend time apart, we'll be friends forever, right?" She asks, patting our shoulders.

"Forever and always." Lee answers, tickling her. She laughs and pulls away from us, looking back to the sky to watch the fireworks.

Friends forever. We had decided that would be our thing when we were young; probably only twelve. Lee and I had found ourselves in a huge fight- what over I can't remember. But Mira had sat us down and forced us to hash it out; said if we were meant to be best friends that meant forever- forever and always.

I look over to her, watching her as she giggles at the show in the sky. I want to kiss her. She looks so perfect here next to me, I wish I could just lean over and press my lips on her. Anywhere; her lips or her cheek or her brow- it didn't matter. I restrain myself, not wanting to scare her off. I look to the sky and watch the fireworks explode, smiling up at the view.

"I think we've got a success." I shout, lifting my hands up and cheering. Mira and Lee smile and shout, cheering us on. Fred begins to shout, running up to give me a hug. Fred and I have been working on all sorts of things; these fireworks were only the beginning.

We didn't want to tell anyone yet, but we want to sell these things. Types of chocolates and sweets which would cause trouble; it would just be so much fun. I know Mira and Lee would be supportive, but Fred and I had decided to wait until things were more thought out to tell them. Didn't want to make arses of ourselves, in a way.

Lee picks up Mira and spins her around; they start dancing together. She laughs and twirls, then turns to Fred and I.

"Come on, let's dance." She shouts.

"There's no music on, you nutter." Fred laughs, walking up to her. Although he had complained, he grabs her hands; she shimmies her shoulders, forcing him to move his arms.

He chuckles and starts to move with her, dancing lightly. Fred lets go of one of her hands, inviting me to join them. I take Mira's hand and pull Lee so the four of us form a circle. It feels like hours and it feels like minutes at the same time, and soon we fall to the ground in a heap of laughing bodies.

Merlin, how I've missed spending time with her. Spending all my time with Lee and Fred was taking a toll- there's only so many pranks you can pull with someone until it loses it's appeal. She just makes things feel complete.

From his pocket, Fred brings out another joint with a mischievous glint in his eye. He lights it and starts to smoke, handing it to me after a moment. I pass it to Lee, and he sits up, pulling Mira closer to him.

Why was he getting so close? I shake the thought out of my head. It was Lee, my best friend. Her best friend, our brother. This was the type of behavior that led me away from her.

He hands the joint to her, and she complains but takes it anyways. Her already narrowed eyes grow even smaller as she smokes, passing the joint back to Lee and laughing. The air is quiet, but it is comfortable.

They sit side by side and she wraps an arm around his shoulder lightly, giggling and saying something I can't quite hear. I look away, my jaw growing tense.

Mira brings out the bag of food I had given her, eating from the bag with a wide smile. Fred leans over and steals the bag, causing her to complain. "Oh come on, that's rude." She says, leaning over to take the bag back. Fred shoves his mouth full of the food; his cheeks protruding. I laugh out loud, crying because he looks like a chipmunk.

Soon after this, Fred stands and pulls me with him. He throws the bag in Mira's lap, empty. "Alright, time for the grand finale!" My brother shouts, grabbing the lighter from the ground and pulling me to the unlit fireworks.

We were far enough from the castle that the normal fireworks won't be seen, but the finale might catch the attention of someone walking on the grounds. Part of it excites me, the idea of getting caught.

I laugh to myself as Fred lights the last few fireworks, flying to the ground as the explosions fly close to my head. I can hear everyone laugh, and watch the fiery show with a smile on my lips.
