He has to be kidding. George is forced to take a seat in the back of the class, and it takes all my willpower to not look back at him. What an idiot! Why would he switch into Divination? He hates the subject, and now it'll be all up to me to make sure he doesn't fail.

Was it because of Adrian? Was George jealous? There was nothing to be jealous of, I reminded myself. Adrian and I have spoken only twice- I wouldn't even say we were friends yet...

Then why was he sitting so close to me? Why did he keep looking over at me when we were meant to be taking notes? And why did I enjoy the fact that he was? By now, everyone in the class had noticed who I was sat next to. The girls were whispering amongst themselves, shooting me dirty looks.

When our professor bids us goodbye, I get up and leave the class without a second glance behind me. More than halfway to my next class, I feel myself get lifted off of the floor. I'm thrown over the shoulder of Fred, who carries me into a small passageway just off of the main corridor.

"Hey! Put me down!" I say as I kick against the boy's chest. He drops me hurriedly to the ground.

"What are you doing?" Fred asks, exasperated, "Are you trying to make George go mad? We told you to not go after any Slytherin in the first place, yet here you are... and right as George is wanting to-" He stops.

"Wanting to what?" I push, but he shakes his head.

"Nothing. But we, including Lee, want this to stop. I mean, why Pucey? You know how he is" He says sternly.

I hit him square in his chest. "I'm not doing anything. Even if I was- you do not control me! I'm getting sick of you lot, you know. Seems that in the last few days you've forgotten you're my friends- not my father."

With a pit of regret for snapping at him, I turn and leave Fred in the corridor. Right as I step out into the main hall, I run headfirst into a different Weasley. Just my luck. George. "You imbecile! Why would you change your classes?" I say, my annoyance clearly showing through my voice.

His smile fades into a look of worry. He stutters "I-I don't know. I just thought you wouldn't mind it." His words make me falter.

Why was I so upset in the first place? He really hadn't done anything wrong. I had been helping the twins pass all of their classes for years already. Was it that he was now interrupting the only time I had alone with Adrian? It couldn't be.

"And now you expect me to do your homework and help you study?" I say, a lot calmer than before.

"See, you're already getting the hang of it! It'll be fun!" He winks at me, bringing a small smile to my lips. To my surprise, he reaches a hand out to me and squeezes my shoulder. He lingers for a moment, but then Fred appears behind me, making George immediately let go of me.

"Let's get to History of Magic before we're all late" I say, leading the way to our next class. Once inside, I sit next to Lee as usual. Thankfully, he doesn't say a word to me about George or Adrian, and the rest of my day goes on like normal.

--

Normal, that is, until dinner. I sit with my usual lot, loud and rambunctious as always. I speak to Hermione Granger, a girl in Ron's year, about her class schedule. She's taking advanced classes for her year, and as she speaks of them I notice Ron stealing glances at her and hanging onto every word she says. I hear a throat clear behind me and quickly turn around. There stands a first year Slytherin, shaking in his place.

"Are you.. erm.. Mira?" He asks me. I reply with a short and confused yes. He hands me a small piece of paper with a shaking hand and then runs back to the Slytherin table.

The people around me are all confused and want me to open the note, but I laugh it off and change the subject as quickly as possible. For a moment the energy at the table has shifted, but Ginny makes a joke about how Ron can't stop inhaling his food and soon we all resume our lively chatter.

I don't open the note until I'm in my bed, worried that it will be from who I think it's from and what it may say. I slowly open the note to read,

I hope you had a great first day back. I'm sorry if I upset you in Divination today, I was just hoping to get to know you better. Let's talk before breakfast tomorrow? I'll be waiting for you in the third-floor corridor. If you don't come, I understand.

My heart races as I clutch the small piece of paper to my chest. The note isn't signed, but it doesn't have to be. Before I drift off to sleep, I make my decision. I'll go see what Adrian has to say, but I won't let anyone know about it. I hate keeping secrets from my friends, but it feels like it's the only option I have right now.
