I wake up in my cold bed. Friday, another monotonous day of class. I exit my bed and begin to get ready for the day, and my bracelet warms. I had almost forgotten what that felt like. I rush to complete my makeup and hair, changing as fast as I can.
I press the bracelet back, and only a moment later it glows again. I grab my bag, and just before I go to leave, I pause. I walk back to my desk, opening the drawer and digging through it. I find the ring that Adrian had given me. I stare it for a moment; I decide to put it on, but on my right hand instead of my left. I had taken it off only a few days ago, and the metal is cold as I slide it on.
My bracelet glows once more, and I leave my room. I run out of the Gryffindor dormitories and towards the door, but I am stopped. "Oi, George wants to speak with you." Fred shouts out at me. "He said he's sorry, but he wants to tell you something else."
"I've got something now, let him know we'll speak in class! Erm, second period." I call out behind me, pulling the door open. Adrian stands in front of me, his arms crossed in front of his broad chest.
He isn't in his robes; he wears a sweater and jeans. His clothes always fit him so perfectly, it's hard to pull my eyes from his solid core. "Hello, gorgeous." He tells me, reaching out with one hand. He hugs me tightly, kissing my hair.
I pull away softly. "Hey. Are we getting breakfast before class?" I ask him, starting to walk down the steps. He follows me, quickly catching up to me and wrapping his arm around my shoulder.
"Well, yes. But I have something more special planned for you. We might miss our first class, if that's alright with you. And it fits within your parameters!" He tells me.
"Alright." I say, and we continue walking down the steps.
We reach the ground floor, but instead of heading towards the Great Hall, Adrian pulls me towards the back of the castle. We make our way towards the greenhouses, but eventually we pass these too. In the last greenhouse, Adrian hides my robes and hands me one of his sweaters, which I throw on over my uniform. I know where he is taking me; this is the path we took to sneak off to Hogsmeade. We walk together quietly, Adrian playing with my hair carefully as we walk.
"I've missed you so much, beautiful." Adrian tells me once we reach the small village.
"I've missed you the most. It really hurt to be apart from you that way." I respond, looking to the ground.
He doesn't answer. He pulls me to the Three Broomsticks; we walk in and his arm drops from my shoulder and goes to my hand. He walks me towards the back of the pub, to the larger tables that line the walls.
"Oh, Mira! My girl!" I hear, and I turn my head to see who was calling for me. In front of me, my mother pulls me into a tight hug.
"Mother? What are you doing here?" I ask, holding her tightly.
"Your boyfriend here- who you have only vaguely mentioned, might I say- arranged for us to see you for the day." She says with a smile.
"Us?" I ask, looking around the pub. From behind my mother, my father pops out with a wide smile.
"My beautiful little buttercup." My dad says, kissing my cheek. "I'm so glad to see you."
With tears in my eyes, I look to Adrian. "You told me you've missed them, and it's your last day you'll be a child..." he trails off, a small smile playing at his lips.
I look back to my parents, pulling them both in for another hug. "Are you hungry? When did you get here? How long can you stay?" I bombard them with questions, pulling them to a large round table in the corner of the pub.
