I whisper the password as quietly as I can, watching the door to the Slytherin dormitory creak open. With a shaking hand I grab the handle; it feels like ice against the warmth of my skin.
I walk through the door, my heartbeat in my ears. The common room is fairly empty; it's too early for there to be many people up. The dark room is close to silent, but when I enter it feels like it somehow becomes even quieter.
I walk across the common room as confidently as I can, trying to ignore the feeling of being stared at.
"Mira?" A male voice calls out. My heart thuds in my chest.
Terrence walks towards me, his arms open wide. "Where've you been, girl?" He asks, punching me on the shoulder lightly.
"Don't act like you don't know." I mutter, taking a step back.
He clears his throat. "I've got something to tell you, if Charlie hadn't already said-"
"Charlie? As in Charlie Weasley? Is it about your dragon?" I ask, pulling him to the side of the room.
His cheeks grow pink, and he shakes his head. "No, not about the dragon. It's something else, something I've got to tell you. I haven't told anyone, only... forget it. It's a secret." He mumbles, ranting on due to some sort of nerves.
"Well go on!" I prod. His eyes look into mine and then back to the ground.
"We're seeing each other." He whispers.
I cover my mouth, squealing. "You're pulling my wand. What? You two? You're-? Charlie's-?"
"Hush, will you? I've just told you it's a secret." He says, cheeks red. "I just wanted to thank you for bringing us together, I suppose."
"No need to thank me, Terrence boy." I giggle, giving him a hug. "Your secret's the safest with me." I reassure him.
Terrence and Charlie? That's a couple I would have never imagined. I could see how it would work; Charlie was caring, although he acted with a hard demeanor. Terrence was the same, although how deep his tough exterior went I don't know.
"Well, why have you come? Not to speak to Adrian, I'm sure." He chuckles.
I shake my head. "No, not to speak to Adrian... have you seen him, though?" I ask, my heart racing.
"Course I have, he's my roommate." He says, as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.
"Well it seems I haven't. He's disappeared completely since I... since things ended." I tell him, somewhat upset. I don't want to think about it now, not when I was meant to go out with my friends.
He nods and suddenly grasps my hand. "Would you like to see him?" He asks.
I should say no, I know that. It was too soon since we had broken up; it was too fresh. But I do want to see him, I want to talk to him. Not even an hour ago I had decided that I needed to speak with him, but I didn't think the opportunity would come so soon.
Before I know what I'm doing, I find myself nodding. Terrence nods after me, pulling my arm as he turns to walk away. I walk with him, my pounding heart felt in every square inch of me.
I feel the rapidness of its beats in my fingertips; I don't know what will happen when I finally am face to face with Adrian.
At last, we reach the door to Terrence and Adrian's room. Terrence throws the door open without knocking, pushing us into the room.
My heart stops beating when I see him. Adrian is sat at his desk, writing with a quill on some paper. He doesn't look up when we enter; he doesn't even say a thing.
