A few weeks have passed since the day at the lake. Things have been somewhat calm; days consist of classes and splitting my time with all my friends. Today is the night before Adrian's birthday, and we sit together in his dorm.

Marcus had moved out; he spoke to Professor Snape and got his room changed after the fight in the common room. Adrian hadn't spoke to him since their fight, but wouldn't explain why. Marcus and Adrian had been friends for so long; although I hated him, it made me sad to think Adrian had lost his friend.

Adrian and I lay in his bed, watching the screen he had recently bought. He sits up quickly, moving to his desk. "This came in the mail today, love. Thought you'd want to go with me." He says, handing me an ornately decorated and thick piece of paper.

I read it over, noting the names Anna Pucey and Wilfred Jones. Apparently, they were to get married. "Who is Anna?" I ask, smiling and pulling him back into the bed with me.

"My cousin, a sweetheart she is. You were supposed to meet them on Christmas. Would you like to be my plus one?" He asks, snuggling his face into my neck.

I giggle and nod, handing the invitation back to him. "It's only a month from now, I'll need to find something to wear." I joke, stroking his hair lightly.

He mumbles something about going shopping and I roll my eyes, turning my eyes back to the screen. We lay in silence for a while, before he clears his throat. "What do you think about getting married?" He asks, playing with my fingers.

"What?" I ask, hoping I hadn't heard him right.

"What do you think of it? Think it's a waste, think it's the end of it all?" He asks, looking up at me.

I shrug. "I don't know, haven't thought about it much." I say, looking back to the invitation.

"Would you like to get married?" He asks, reaching up to my chin. He pulls my head lightly towards him, forcing me to look into his forest green eyes. I can't tell what emotions hide in them, but I know I must say something quickly.

"I mean, eventually." I say, pushing his hand off of me lightly.

The thought of marriage made my heart race. Loads of people got married at seventeen, as soon as they were adults. But we still had an entire year of school, there's no way I could get married now; Adrian and I hadn't even been dating an entire school year.

"So you don't want to?" He asks, sitting up.

"I didn't say that. I just said eventually." I blush.

"I'd want to marry you as soon as possible. Hell, I wish we were already married." He whispers, tucking his head back into in my neck.

"I think you're mad." I say, giggling as his breath tickles me. "You do know you're not seventeen until tomorrow, right?"

His voice grows sullen, I know I've probably struck a nerve. "Yeah, so tomorrow we'll legally be allowed to do it. My cousin Anna is only eighteen you know."

"Can we not talk about bloody marriage?" I complain, pushing him away from me.

"You wouldn't want to marry me?" He questions, his voice dropping.

"I haven't said that. Godric, Adrian, I don't know. Please, stop." I press, closing my eyes. I can feel the bed shift and I open my eyes to find Adrian stands at his drawer, his back to me. "Are you upset?" I ask quietly.

He shakes his head. "Sorry I was pressing you." He answers.

I stand up slowly, wrapping my arms around his midsection. I rest my cheek on his back; after a few heartbeats his hands meet mine. His fingers gently run across my arms, and I move to stand in front of him. "I just hadn't thought of getting married alright? That's something that takes quite a lot of thought." I whisper.
