"It's alright, Molly, we should get going-" I stammer, trying to make as painless an escape as possible. I look to Adrian and he looks at me wordlessly, not wanting to upset me in any way.
"Nonsense! Mum's made your favorite, pasta with pink sauce. Made the pasta from scratch too. You're welcome to stay, boyfriend." Charlie taunts, his ears red.
"Come, everybody, let's sit!" Molly says with a smile, unaware of the tension she was creating within her household. "Arthur should be back later tonight, he said we should just eat without him. Come on everybody, stop the dilly dallying!"
Slowly, the group moves towards the table, leaving Adrian and I alone in the living room. "What are you doing here?" I ask, wiping the soot off of his forehead.
"Phelps and Greta were busy, and it was getting dark. I wanted to come and get you; I didn't realize I would land in the middle of them all." He says, his cheeks turning pink.
I shake my head in disbelief of what was happening. "We can't leave now, Molly's feelings would be hurt. Listen to me, Charlie is a bit brash. Please just try to ignore his comments, alright?" I dust off as much soot from his suit as I can, and grab his hand to lead him to the table.
"Two spaces right there, dear, next to Ginny." Molly smiles, serving our plates. We eat in silence for a moment before Adrian speaks.
"Thank you for dinner, Mrs. Weasley. I'm sorry to intrude-"
"Yeah, thanks for showing up unannounc- Ow!" Fred grumbles, looking to Molly.
"You're no intrusion, honey. Any friend of Mira's is a friend of this house." Molly says, shooting daggers at her sons.
We eat quietly once more. Now, it is Charlie who speaks. "What's with the suit?" He asks, his eyebrows furrowed. Fred and George look to each other, but refrain from laughing. I look to Adrian, and he swallows his food before he answers.
"It's just what I had on." He smiles politely, controlling his temper.
"Stop it, boys." Ginny says, sticking up for me and Adrian. "Adrian, how did you feel about the last quidditch season?" She looks to him and then to me with a sorry expression.
His smile grows, and he begins to speak lightheartedly with Ginny. Soon the boys jump in, and the tension begins to dissolve. I stay quiet, not wanting to change the subject or derail them from the progress they were making.
Suddenly I hear Ron make a suggestion that shocks me. "Let's go for a round of quidditch tonight, yeah? We have a couple extra brooms, for Charlie and Mira. I'm sure it'll be fun."
I look to Adrian and see him nod. "I'll go home and change; I can bring my own broom. Are you all up for it?" Everyone at the table nods, and I find myself nodding as well. "Would you like to come with me?" Adrian whispers in my direction.
I shake my head, "Ginny's got some clothes I can wear, I'll change here. Are you sure you want to do this?" I whisper back.
"It'll be good." He says, smiling at me and kissing my cheek. "Thank you for the meal, Mrs. Weasley, I'll be back in a few minutes."
He stands up and I walk with him to the fireplace. "I thought your house was closed from the Floo network?" I ask, grabbing the bowl of powder from the mantle.
"I had my father open it up for us, until tomorrow." He kisses my forehead and takes a handful of powder, calling out for Pucey Manor.
I stand there in shock of what had just happened. Not only had Adrian held a conversation with the Weasleys, but he had somehow bonded with them with their mutual love of quidditch. My heart races. Could Adrian really be friends with Fred and George? A throat clears behind me; I turn and see the twins standing with their arms crossed.
