I expect Adrian to take me to the dining room, but he walks me to the large sitting room off of the foyer. Inside, Alexandra and her mother sit together as Greta braids the young girl's hair. "Well hello, sleepyheads. Travelling always gets the best of me, I can't blame you. Adrian, your father is in his study; he would like to speak to you." She smiles.

I walk over to her and chuckle. "Oh, she doesn't have to-"

"It's no problem, dear. Come, sit." Greta tells me.

I nod and sit next to Alexandra on the chaise lounge and smile at her. Greta begins to fuss with my hair, and I strike up a conversation with the group. "I hadn't realized I slept in so long, I apologize."

"No need to apologize, dear girl. I remember how gruesome the ride on that train is." Mrs. Pucey chuckles politely.

"Mira, when Greta is done, would you like to see my treehouse?" Alexandra asks me excitedly.

"Oh, don't force her to go there." Her mother replies.

"I don't mind." I say, agreeing to go with her.

Greta continues to plait my hair, laughing lightly. "You're a sweet girl, Ms. Mason."

My cheeks flush, and the conversation dies down. Soon, Greta finishes my hair and Alexandra grabs my hand and pulls me out of the manor. The grounds are breathtaking, sprawling and a lush green.

We reach a large tree and she begins to climb the wood slats that are nailed into its trunk. I follow her, and soon I am in the large wooden box.

"This is amazing!" I say, noting her pink decorations that line the entire room.

"Adrian built it for me." She says casually. "I'm very glad you're his girlfriend."

"I'm glad as well," I chuckle, "What do you like to play in here?" I ask her, picking up a small tea set.

She smiles and lifts up a doll. I sit with her and begin to play her little game, and suddenly Adrian appears in the small doorway. He barely fits; his shoulders are just as wide as the entry. Alexandra and I laugh, to which he complains.

"Bugger off." He says in a playfully sour mood. A light smile lines his lips, and I hand him a doll.

"We've just begun our princess party." I tell him.

He shakes his head. "You're needed inside, Mira." He says, the smile not fading from his lips. My heart begins to race; could this be related to the conversation he had with his father? I nod and silently set the dolls down.

I climb out of the tree first, and I hear Adrian struggle to climb out after me.

"You built that for her?" I ask as he straightens his suit jacket.

"Yeah, last summer actually. I'll build you one too." He winks at me and I laugh. He walks with me back to the mansion, as my anxiety continues to grow.

"Why do I need to go inside? Is it your father?" I ask quietly.

He shakes his head. "No, no, it's a matter of my... own desire." He opens the main door for me, ushering me inside. My ears grow hot, and he takes my hand to lead me up the stairs.

"You've got to be kidding me." I tell him, full of disbelief.

"What, I can't miss you?" He says in a voice of mock complain.

I giggle and shake my head. "Well, I miss you too. It's been far too long since I've... seen you."

"You don't have to tell me." He laughs, picking me up and running down the hall. He sets me down to open the door and immediately begins to kiss me when we enter the room.
